That first level seemed awfully easy compared to the likes of Ninja Gaiden.

But the first level of Ninja Gaiden is also easy...?

The difficulty definitely gets turned up in later stages, at least for me. Struggle pretty much throughout each stage.

No the first level of Nes Ninja Gaiden was pretty hard actually. The boss was easy but getting there that's a challenge!

So I've been having a pretty difficult time with stages 6,7, and 8. The difficulty ramps ups with each level.

This is the closest thing we've got to a new classic style Ninja Gaiden and I am loving it! The music is so good! Every song is fantastic and really gets you pumped to slice and dice!

Yea its pretty dang close. As much as I do like it, I have to say messenger was better imo. I know they're different styles of games (linear vs metroidvania) but I just like the gimmick messenger had of 8bit to 16bit. And the actual flow of gameplay in the levels of the messenger feels a little more fleshed out as a whole. Like it all runs more smoothly to me if that makes sense. Cyber shadow feels like a lot of stopping and waiting to strike so you can avoid projectiles. In the messenger I felt I could slice and dice nonstop until the end of the area.

I hit a wall at level 6 and switched to a better dpad. You can see your button inputs in system settings.

Dash becomes necessary to nail every time, and you have to do it quick. Without ruffling feathers, I won’t blame the pro controller. 🤪

No, but seriously...don’t use the pro controller, even if you have to use the tiny joycon dpad. Just try it.

@nerdface haha nice. It's been hard for sure. 6 was where the difficulty really takes off. 7 and 8 are becoming bonkers. Ill check out some new control schemes. I do have an 8bitdo n30 pro that's nice to use

Yeah The messenger was awesome too! I like how it's a much more lengthy game and how just when you think it's about over you realize there's way more to it! Kinda like symphony of the night. Getting some of those collectables was insanely difficult though! Cyber shadow is more of a game you play in short bursts. Trying to do it all in one sitting would likely drive the average player crazy!

@Zeldafan79 exactly. This is a short burst type of game. I'd rage too hard if I sat down and did it all.

NintendoByNature

Zeldafan79

Well i just had my first near rage quit! The chapter 4 boss took me an hour to figure out! I caved and looked up a good strategy to defeat it. Apparently i was going about it all wrong. The down sword attack with the fireballs basically wrecks the thing.

Has anyone beaten the game yet? I'm halfway thru stage 8 and may not even finish the game. It's pretty damn impossible at points. Playing for 30-45 just to get to the next checkpoint is kind of wearing on me honestly.

I’m at the level with no label?...dude said prof. was this way...taking a break on my fingers for a bit.

I’m at the part where you fight the sort of boss fights with the dead cells-like fire boundaries during the encounter.

You’d think they stay dead like most mini bosses, but no. I need some more practice, and I hope there is a checkpoint before the final boss.

My carpel tunnel can only take so much abuse on my days off! 😃

I'm at the final boss, thankfully. Gave it a good 30-40 minutes before I decided to stop playing and trying again tomorrow. There's ony so much failure I can handle in a night! Hopefully I can pull out the win tomorrow. If not I'm just going to move on. I spent alot of time on this game and dying more often than not. If anyone has any tips for the boss please let me know.

I'm up to chapter 8 now and starting to lose my sanity! Should i worry about what's to come for the next few levels? The only boss so far that had me wanting to toss my controller was in chapter 4. My reflexes ain't what they used to be.

I've recently been playing a little classic Nes Ninja gaiden to help sharpen up my ninja skills. I may even do another playthrough of the messenger just for the heck of it!

@Zeldafan79 just be prepared for the hardest levels thus far. Even harder than the boss fights at times 😫

@NintendoByNature
Yeah I'm sorta stuck on chapter 8 right now. It's brutal! You really need to be good at reflecting projectiles by this point. There's so much stuff coming at you from all directions. I don't know if I'll get this game finished or not!

"Freedom is the right of all sentient beings" Optimus Prime

NintendoByNature

@Zeldafan79 I wish you could slice projectiles instead of tapping the direction. Kind of a silly design that causes error quite easily

NintendoByNature

Zeldafan79

@NintendoByNature
Yes exactly! That would make a huge difference! Most of the time I die it's because I suck at reflecting.

"Freedom is the right of all sentient beings" Optimus Prime

NintendoByNature

@Zeldafan79 well I did it. I highly recommend going to a let's play or look at tips for the final boss. I saw one thing that completely changed it for me and allowed me to beat the final boss.

Clear time- 9:09:09 seriously that was my clear time haha
70% completion
427 deaths. That's a bit skewed though because during the final boss fight if I didn't get to a certain part hitless, I just killed myself immediately since there's no way to continue on taking a hit. It was probably more like really high 300s deaths.

All and all, it doesn't even come close to the beautiful game that is the messenger. It was just ok. Around a 7/10. It had a lot of flaws honestly( most notably enemy placement). It was an ok game. Not as good as I hoped.
