If this is digital only, I think I'll buy one of nintendolife's eshop cards, which are 10% off if you use promo code NLIFE10. If you find articles with the NL discounted cards, they point you to this page for the purchase: https://codes.nintendolife.com/us/?currency=USD
There are no plans (that I'm aware of) for a NA release. You'll have to settle for a European or Japanese copy. Even though I have a copy on order from Shop4megastore, I'm not overly thrilled about this release. According to aggregate scores, this fared as well as All-Star Fruit Racing.

@StarPoint With 300 hours in Mario Kart 8, I just want something new & competent. What I played in the Lite version entertained me, but I'm not sure I want to pay $50 for it on North American eShop. (NL's 10% off eshop cards puts it at $45 usd). I'd really rather buy physical.
@Magician UK amazon has it for ₤35, which accept USD & ship to US for $40 plus $10(shipping), deliver by March 17. I don't know if you've noticed, some things on amazon UK will accept USD and ship to US. Or, perhaps I'm late to the party noticing. https://www.amazon.co.uk/Nintendo-10007311-Chocobo-GP-Switch/...
I'll go through AmazonUK if there's a special edition I have my eye on.
But for standard releases I prefer Shop4 because of their reward program.

The pre-order gifts for Chocobo GP aren't worth it by the way.
My Nintendo UK Store order arrived earlier today, and it's a typical folded poster and sticker sheet, and the keychain is only a cheap rubber thing.
I never understood the point of folded posters, who wants to put up a creased poster?
I tried the "Lite" version. Chocobo GP mode is Chocobo Battle Royale because of course it is.
Like what I'm playing so far. Elimination is done by being the last four in a race. Tried the one story mode race. Really confused on if the F2P option is a demo, or just Chocobo GP mode for anyone to play. With the in-game purchases, why not just make it F2P in general and story mode to buy? Kind of like Ninjala does. Maybe it's doing that in a way?
Aside from that bit of confusion, I like it. Maybe worth buying if it goes on sale.
Not gonna lie, the menu music is a bop. I stayed at the menu listening to it, lol.
@BruceCM Yeah, they have it on the eShop as Chocobo GP Lite. It's very limited compared to the full game (Chocobo GP is the only online mode, three characters to choose from, one story chapter, local wireless multiplayer). It is nice to simply try it out, and save data can be used in the full game.

@BruceCMChocobo Lite is the free version. But don't let "free to play" fool you into thinking you get much. It's more of a limited demo. You can only race online(battle royale), that's about it. Story mode is essentially blocked. It lets you lets you do race #1 as a tutorial, but that's it. Story mode is locked otherwise, and the other three modes are grayed out, not accessible.
And, what points you do earn racing online are pathetic. So, there's not much progress that can be made.
I like the game so far. I don't know if I'm willing to spend the $50 it costs. I'm waiting for a sale.
@WoomyNNYes Alright. Thinking about it, I can't help but think the free option is there to fill up the Chocobo GP lobby. Just to be able to group 64 players into one race.
It weirdly makes sense to me since most BR games tend to be free anyway.

I got the full release. Not happy about the virtual currency to buy Cloud, which has two options and isn't really clear about the difference between them. Both show him but the cheaper one doesn't say anything about getting him while the other does.
It also gives you increased rewards through the season but I hate being time limited. Cause who knows when I'll really dig into the game.

NL's article says you can play story mode with the Lite version but, it only let sme play race #1, no further. Am I missing something? (wouldn't be the first time I couldn't see something staring me in the face)
@WoomyNNYes Yeah, the story chapter that opens the game, which includes the tutorial and one race.
I like how the story is presented so far, but it's only that one race. Will add the lite version allows local wireless multiplayer racing, but I don't have anyone to try this since it's system-to-system wireless, and not online.

Yeah, that's OK, @WoomyNNYes ... Perhaps that's why they didn't say anything about a Lite version? It'll show me enough to know if I want to buy the full game, though That'll be cool for me, @Sunsy, since I certainly won't be playing the full version online if I do get it!
My friend has been playing the lite version, when talking to him yesterday, it got me wondering, what if this is a weird attempt by Square Enix to do what Microsoft did to Halo Infinite. Having a free multiplayer version (Chocobo GP mode is a free multiplayer mode), and the single player behind a purchase. Thing is, it backfired by being too limited.
Halo Infinite has a free-to-play multiplayer mode with a battle pass, only difference is you can buy the battle pass without buying the full game. Chocobo GP, you need the full game for the battle pass. Also, the single player game is behind a purchase.
Just had me thinking since Halo Infinite did something similar. Question, anyone bothered with buying the full game? Does the F2P-style stuff crossover into the single player, or it's Chocobo GP mode only?

@CactusMan So, are you pleased with the physical version? I'm still tempted to get the paid version. Since I play Rocket League, I think I can accept the seasonal structure of the game.
