jump

I had a search and I couldn't find a topic already.

It's such a bizarre game but I'm really looking forward to it.

I feel $50 is asking a bit much. I would like to support Atlus, but the volume of games they've been bringing to Switch has been too slow, imo. So I intend to wait for a discount. Besides, I'm not the biggest fan of 3D puzzle games. I wonder how this compares to Sega's game Crush on PSP?

I liked the game in it's day, but I preferred the social parts to the block puzzles. And there isn't enough new story content here to tempt me to buy it again.

I've just got my copy in the post today. I've had a quick go and it's a good port, its holds up against the other versions visually.

I'm gonna try to finish off Bioshock this week so I can move onto this next.

@Magician I think $50 is reasonable, considering it launched for $10 more on PS4, and considering it comes with all DLC bundled in for free.

But yeah, definitely don't buy it if it's not something that looks interesting to you.

@jump Geez, you snagged this one early, didn't you?

Yeah, I'm really happy they did a good job porting it to Switch. Granted, it's never a game that should have given them trouble on the system to begin with, but I remember how games like Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night turned out.

My copy also arrived early. I'm excited to get into this one on the Switch, since I was one of the few who was gutted the Vita port was cancelled in the West (I wanted a portable version).

It’s looks the same as docked although I’ve not played it extensively yet.

Anyone know at what point it is too late to start reversing your karma metre? I had forgotten they created new endings for Katherine and Catherine in Full Body and was going for full chaos (pink), thinking that's what I need for the best ending for Catherine. Now I realised that there's a new ending for Catherine that requires you to be firmly in the blue section (apparently). I guess it's too late now (I think I'm night 3 or something) and I'll just have to commit to the ending I was going for or restart? Ah well, I'll probably end up youtubing all the endings.

@Reprise it's around day 9 when it becomes too late if I remember correctly.

I like how some of the comments in this thread are I want this as it's a puzzle game whilst others I want it because it's a visual novel/social simulator.

@jump That's the point where you're asked a number of questions that will decide the ending you get, but to get the various "true endings" you also need your karma metre to be firmly in either pink or blue. It's the latter I'm referring to. What I mean is my karma metre is currently in the pink, so I wonder if it would be too late for me to switch and start moving it into the blue. I feel like I'm over thinking this though and should just commit at this point haha.

I love both aspects of the game by the way. That's what makes it so compelling and interesting in my opinion. There's nothing else quite like it.

@jump Haha, true! Just came home, will start it up in a couple of minutes.

Is this supposed to get an English demo? I have heard good things about this game for years now and would like to try it, but the concept of it does not appeal to me very much so I definitely do not just want to buy it. And I can't understand what is going on in the Japanese demo.

So, at what point should I save the game so that I can reload the save to take different paths? I know the four questions I need to answer during nights three and four and five and six for the Rin route. And I know there’s some stuff you have to answer correctly after that but would that be a good spot to save? Or should I continue to answer the right questions up until the very last one? If so, what is that last question? What I’m asking is, where does it happen in the story so that I know to save the game before that point.

It would be nice to just reload the save and then do three different routes that way.

@Xyphon22
No, but if you’ve played Pushmo, that’s basically the gameplay. Except some blocks cannot be moved and some are traps so that you have to step across them quickly the first time or spikes will come up and pierce you, Plus you can hang on the edges of blocks, and blocks will not fall lower as long as an edge line is connected to another blocks edge line. There’s items to help, and Undos if you mess up. I really enjoy this style puzzle but I’m not very good at doing it quick on my feet so I’ve been playing on easy mode and it’s been very enjoyable thus far. I had it set to normal at first and I encountered the same frustration I encountered the first time I played the game but on easy it’s a blast. Still get the thrill of the climb without the frustration of constantly dying.

That’s half the game. The other half is social sim, with a Persona style to it. I have to say, such a unique game and there’s really nothing else out there like it.

That's why I would like to play a demo, because there is nothing else like it. And I've never gotten into Persona, nor cared for social sim games. I like Pushmo and am interested in that half of the game, but I'm not very intrigued in a story revolving entirely around a man cheating on his girl. So I guess it will just have to go firmly in the "Pass" pile until I can try a demo or I have nothing else to play (which will be never).

@Xyphon22
It does revolve around cheating, but it’s way more than that. It’s the personal struggle of trying to do the right thing despite kind of landing in a situation he didn’t intend and can’t remember (the story is a bit out there, every night he has dreams from the woman’s wrath rumor that goes around and has to climb for his life or he’ll die). Whether you pursue the other women is completely up to you with the choices you make, but the story more centers around him trying to get out of a bad situation he didn’t intend. When you have a lot of other things going on like his girlfriend tells him she’s pregnant and then you get to choose how to respond to that.

That’s not something you’re into then I would just say stay far away from the game because you’re not going to enjoy it, but I got to say it’s one of the funniest games I’ve played in a very long time, The reactions he has when she tells him she’s pregnant and then starts telling him he needs to get his act together and oh you’re going to stop smoking too and you’re gonna do this, you’re gonna do that, I just see his reaction with every line piled on top lol, had me rolling. So many times this game has had me rolling.

I found it not usually the subject of the story that matters but how it’s told, and this one is told extremely well.

A couple of hours in. Not sure how I feel about the puzzle game aspect, which I'm playing on the "normal" difficulty level. The constant push to climb ever upwards quickly keeps making me panic and screw up. I guess that's central to the metaphor of the game, though.

As an interactive anime, though? It's fantastic. Infidelity is never something I approve of, but I'm finding Vincent someone easy to feel sympathetic towards so far, if only because of how damn human and relatable he is as a character.

Visually, it's not the best on the TV, but this isn't the version someone's going to get with pretty graphics in mind. It looks good enough for what it is.

That’s exactly what caused my frustration too the first time I played, and again this time. Try the Easy difficulty. It changed everything for me.

Yeah, as tempting as it is I'm keeping away from using the easy setting as the difficulty level is there for an arty reason.
