Hello, Ive recently been interested in buy a nintendo switch and after looking online I have found that the cheapest way of getting a switch is through USA amazon. Currently its being sold for 250 Euros and buying a switch online or in stores in ireland would cost around 320 Euros. I was wondering if i was able to use the dock without frying it or anything i have an adapter for the wall socket but would the voltage be to high in ireland it is around 230watts I believe.
I can't speak to the power issue, but I would be wary as Nintendo UK/EU may not cover the warranty for consoles from other territories. If anything happened to the Switch you could be left facing all costs for replacing/repairing it yourself.
@DanteSolablood If I Were to buy it off amazon and it came broken wouldn't I get a new switch (as a replacement) is that what you mean, because if you mean that i accidentally break the screen etc. im not worried about that. I am planning to get a screen protector and case etc.
@OwnerOfSwag not that, like warranty issues ie. it completely stops working after 6 months, battery swelling, fan stops working, speaker stops working, things that are suppose to break that just malfunction in the 1st year.
Its referred to as a manufactures warranty
The 30 day(typically) retailer return policy you would be fine if it came defective or you changed your mind
@OwnerOfSwag To be honest if I were you I'd wait for any sale to get it online on an European website. Amazon has great deals in Europe too. Wait for that and you won't have any unpredictable problems in the future like "contact customer service in USA". You have waited a long time already, the console will be 2 years old in March and there are a few sales coming soon like Black Friday in November.
@OwnerOfSwag your asking for a can of worms here. Just get a EU NSW unit and you will have warranty and return warranty. Your warranty only works in the Country region it was made for. And as others mentioned power adapters will be different as well. So if your really wanting a NSW get from made for the EU country i.e. Ireland.
It already comes with a 1 year manufacturer warranty already and if they offer extended warranty see when that extended warranty takes effect and what it covers to be sure it really covers what you expect it to cover. Check to see they are not scalping you for a useless warranty that doesn't cover anything bad happening.
