Topic: Screen Burn after Disgaea 5 updated last night EDIT: DEAD PIXELS

This is really weird... Disgaea 5 had an update I downloaded, i put the console to sleep, and then after removing the system from the dock to play, my whole screen is ruined with vertical lines top to bottom. It wasn’t even 24 hours and the system was on sleep mode. Wtf...

EDIT: It's dead pixels... can't play portable at all...

Sounds bad. Have you power cycled it? There's a chance it will restart okay. Next step probably a factory reset.

@JasmineDragon I powered it on and off fully, but not a factory reset. I even called Nintendo and got off the phone with them, and they said they may even have to replace the system altogether...

Except I'm trapped overseas due to the pandemic and a travel ban prevents me from returning home to the states to send it to them and get a replacement.

It works fine when hooked up to the television, but my portable enjoyment is gone. It may even be cheaper just to get a new Switch and transfer everything than it is to try and risk repairs, which now include a right joycon R-button that only works 40% of the time.

Usually games don't do burn in. You might have drawn the unlucky Joker Card for coincidence.

I don't think this in burn-in, pretty sure that sounds like a broken screen, or dead pixels. I had a monitor back then that gave me a bright vertical line right in the center and would not go away, don't think these were truly dead since they eventually vanished, but yeah that's what pixels look like when they're dead/not working on an LCD.

@Severian I'm pretty sure you game didn't do it, but can you remember what happend before or after you put it in the dock.

Okay, dead pixels... I literally just put the game in the dock after going to sleep mode. Nothing else. It didn’t fall over from the dock where it’s on the floor anyway too.

Snatcher

@Severian Its on the floor?

@Snatcher yes. The whole screen from left to right looks like I’m playing through jail cell bars obscuring the screen. Works fine on television though but not portable.

All I can say is to get it repaired...

@Joeynator3000 yeah Nintendo customer service says that they need to replace it altogether. But I can’t fly home and send it to them, as I’ve been trapped overseas since the pandemic...

Yeah, found out it's dead pixels. The thing this guy highlights in this video? It's all across my screen like jail bars as I said. It was a good run, 3.5 years. But man, even my Game Boy, the original, the GBA, and DS all never had these problems...
