Read on internet characters abilities and most interesting to me are Spring Man & Kid Cobra. Getting always more interested in KC. Might use him as main, seems really strong and annoying to fight with his speed
This is the most concise summary of the different character abilities I've seen. Still don't understand Spring Man's boxing glove blocking, or does every character have that ability?
@Haru17 It's a shockwave that occurs at the end of Spring Man's dashes, more specifically right when his arms charge up, making him less likely to be caught by followups to a different dodged punch. Min-Min's kick parries are similar, except they happen at the start of her dashes rather than the end. Those two are probably the most straightforward characters at the moment, they even both have special charge mechanics.
I have to say, Kid Cobra's abilities look really technical. Might end up being a favorite when it comes to competitive play, though.
For my part, I like Ribbon Girl's nimbleness and Twintelle's attack slowing ability.
Oh, and I've been very skeptical of this game, but the more I see, the more I like it. I want to try out the testpunch before I commit to a purchase, though.

Wow, thanks for that video. Didn't realize how in depth this game is!
I'm actually interested in Twintelle now for the matrix-style slow motion mid-air, and Kid Cobra for the evasion. Spring Man and Ribbon Girl seem like good all rounders, and Ninjara is still my fave. Also, Helix is the wild card. I can imagine people going nuts with this dude once they master squishing down low and stretching up tall and wiggling all around lol...
I hope Arms takes off as a competitive fighter. It's the only core fighter I've ever seen take motion seriously. Which... is probably why so many people got casual vibes from it at first. Now we're seeing that no, this game is built on core technical mechanics and move sets... the marriage of motion and traditional button gameplay is going to be very interesting

The only thing I'm worried about with motion controls is the lock on in 2 v 2 and movement in general. I don't really see how changing direction will be as precise as using an analogue stick. Even if you can turn on a dime, it sounds like movement speed will be on or off like with keyboard controls, which is never a good thing. That said, I'm openminded as I never had a problem with the Wii concept. Also not sure how we're supposed to switch targets in tag-team mode. I think the automatic lock-on is why the teams are linked — so they don't friendly fire as easily — but I'll have to play it to really see.
And of course if the hits don't feel satisfying the whole game will be trash, but I'm pretty optimistic after seeing what Mario Kart 8 did with HD rumble and item combat generally.
OMG there seems to be on the internet the characters tier list already
Tier 1: Kid Cobra, Ribbon Girl, Ninjara, Mechanica
Tier 2: Helix, Twintelle, Master Mummy, Min Min
Tier 3: Spring Man, Byte & Barq
I personally don't think it will be this way, especially about BB (too low) and Ribbon Girl (too high). I wonder how this will develop, but if it's true i can confirm my choice in Kid Cobra!
Regarding Barq, do you get to control exactly what he does, or does he just attack however he wants? If he has several attacks, but no means of choosing which one, that adds an element of randomness. And fighting games and randomness don't get along so well.
All they said so far is the computer controls him, I seen/read a couple of previews talk them but there's no mention of setting for robo-dog.

If i remember right from what they said in the Direct this should be it: controlled by AI, one straight attack with the tongue

Frankly, I think the arms you pick have a bigger impact on match outcomes than the characters themselves, though I can already see some potential advantages. The best tactic against Twintelle seems to be waiting for her to attack and then counter, something Master Mummy can do well with his healing. Conversely, Spring Man's perma-charged attacks at low health can render Master Mummy's and Mechanica's armour moot.
@FGPackers Now see, this is what I mean when I say that arms have more impact than characters. I know it's kind of a knee-jerk fighting game instinct that speedy characters generally trump big, slow ones, but Master Mummy, even if we consider only his default selection, can equip faster and-or wider-ranged arms to compensate for his opponent's speed.
@meleebrawler Yeah i have to agree on this one. One of (if not the) most things that have me sold on this game is how much deep it is. I'm "seeing people not seeing it", but there's a lot of strategy in this game. As i said multiple times in last days this game can really be a sleeper for Switch, for the Nintendo summer and for e-sports. I'm really looking forward to play it online, especially competitive with my Kid Cobra/Helix combo!
Byte and Barq look like absolute trash. I expect them to not even be worth learning.
Twintelle seems fun as well.
I expect Kid Cobra to be an incredibly capable but more technical selection.
Agree on all 3 points. I'm kind of falling in love with Kid Cobra, in fighting games i like more technique/finesse characters, and he seems really of this kind.
@FGPackers Not really a fan of technical fighters, and I don't really care for his design, but if people can learn how to properly exploit those i-frames, he'll probably become a beast in ranked mode/tournaments.

I for one am not underestimating Byte and Barq. Bringing a partner along is a serious advantage even if they're weak. Barq doesn't need to do damage. If you punch him, or block or dodge his attack, that's a free opening for Byte. The only way they can be trash is if Barq is so incompetent he can't even be a nuisance.

Agree on the exploit, not on his design. Don't know why but i like his design too! It kind of intrigues me, maybe it's the mask and the mistery. Even though nothing excites me, overall i like it really a lot. Same thing for Spring Man. One instead i don't like in aspect but would love to try is Helix. This are my 3 favourites.
I think in the Gamexplain discussion, they also said that Byte is also slower than the other characters. So I'd imagine he's 'gimped' in other areas to make up for it.
