and most importantly that it is safe to use such an adapter with the Switch system? Aren't there issues about connecting things to Switch tablet causing it to be bricked? Third party docks for example, or charging packs etc. So is it safe to use a USB to USB-C adapter like this?

I can use the bundled in USB cable with the Arcade Stick if I'm playing docked on TV right? It will be long enough to sit a standard distance from TV (e.g. me sat on sofa). Thanks for any help and guidance you can offer, been a long road to bring me to the point I am willing to spend £100 plus on another controller for my Switch having already shelled out for 2 Switch consoles, three pairs of Joy-Con, a Pro Controller and all the accompanying expenses for MicroSD cards, carry cases, screen protectors etc.

However, I've been gifted some extra money and with STREET FIGHTER ANNIVERSARY COLLECTION incoming in the next fortnight, I thought it might be a case of now or never for me getting an Arcade stick.

Appreciate your responses in advance and apologies for derailing the thread but I know these queries are of interest to a number of us active in these weekly challenges. Be ace to play all my Arcade Archives, Neo-Geo and Data East titles with this stick and my Switch housed in that arcade cab kit.

If you have other consoles, I advise getting a PS4/PC model HRAP and not the Switch-only model and then just spend €22 to get a Magic NS to use it on Switch (comes with the cable to play it undocked). No lag whatsoever and you might even find Amazon Warehouse deals for the PS4 HRAP IV where it’s new with just the box dented. Iirc I pad €97 for mine and it was brand new.

What? I dropped outside top 100 in Galaga 88 leaderboards. Gonna be a struggle to climb back!

@DashKappei @Lroy Isn't the RAP V for Switch and PC? If I remember correctly I saw a review where it was mentioned. I am gonna pick up a stick too for the street fighter collection.

@DashKappei @Zkibu The Switch is my primary gaming machine. Have a Wii U, Wii and PS3 still hooked up under TV but no immediate plans to make room for a PS4 or what not.

Do have a Rasberry Pi (using RetroPie for arcade emulation - MAME/Final Burn Alpha). Would that work with this Switch Arcade stick then? As it is a mini-PC?

@Lroy I checked it out. It is obviously plug and play for the Switch and compatible for PC using XInput.

Just booted up GALAGA '88. Oh man, I suck. What is the lowest score on the open leaderboard here? Just so I can aim for something.

Also bought and started playing TERRA CRESTA. I like it, reminds me of XEVIOUS and STAR FORCE. I'm totally new to this game, so haven't a clue how to play it for score chasing but still having fun. Up to 50th on the Caravan Global Leaderboards after three runs. As this is a new Arcade Archives release it doesn't appear to have a full leaderboard yet. So good chance if you do play it, you'll place. Already seen a few of our regulars on the list 👍

Really enjoying Terra Cresta. My current high score isn't great but it's the best I can do until tomorrow.

@Zkibu No worries, I'd be buying for the Switch first and foremost in any case.

@Lroy I got the USB to USB-C adapter when I bought the Hori stick for Switch and it worked fine then, no problems. I really doubt there could be anything there related to bricking the console as there is no power involved. Haven't tried it in a while, but if you have paranoid over this, I can test it later today again.

The screen feel's a bit small like that though, I have to build myself temporary custom stand to get the switch screen in position I liked when playing with the switch (it was some tablet stand I put on top of some book, with arm long enough to bring it close enough to my liking). Currently I'm mainly using handheld mode + separate tv/screen.

@GFoyle I'm paranoid only because since the Switch was updated to 5.0 firmware and above, there has been reports on 3rd Party docks or cables for chargers etc and some adapters bricking the Switch system. This maybe the firmware update, it may be that the Switch itself is not USB-C fully compliant itself. There's been various videos on YouTube and articles online such as Forbes about this matter.

Of course, I want it all to just work and be fine and I'm pretty sure it will but wanted to ask more informed people or people with experience in using this Arcade Stick with an Adaptor before blindly putting my System at risk.

EDIT: I think Nintendo themselves even commented on this issue and said don't use any third party cables. I think they might then have devised a list of chargers or what not you could use safely. However, I've not read or seen anything recommending a specific USB-to-USB-C adapter cable.

@Lroy @GFoyle don't know if it may help, but the Mayflash adapter I've bought to use my HORI RAP4 KAI on Switch comes with an USB-A to C adapter for tabletop/undocked play; to me it looks like a super-standard adapter (I'm pretty sure more than a couple of guys here are using it) and my guess is you'll be perfectly safe using any decent quality one.
I agree with fellow GFoyle that as long as there's no power and/or charging involved you should be good to go.
