Hi,
I have just got my Switch yesterday and the first game I have bought was Zelda.
I did not expect to see many titles, but the store is pretty empty right now.
What games have you bought except Zelda?
Will there be any backwards compatibility for previous Nintendo exclusives? This is my first Nintendo device and I would love to try all the old games.
If you have some pals to play with, I'd seriously recommend you try out Snipperclips. There's even a demo for it so you don't have to shell out the 20 bucks if you're unsure. Also if you are into older, 8-bit styled games, Blaster Master Zero is fun, too. Also Fast RMX is a fast-paced fun in case racing games are your thing.
Personally, I've also got 1-2-Switch since I was interested in the whole HD Rumble thing. Not really impressed by it and I'd only recommend it after a price drop IF you like party gaming. I've also got Shovel Knight's Treasure Trove since I LOVE Shovel Knight and I'd recommend that if you've never played it yet.
In terms of backwards compability, as in putting old games into the machine, no, there's not. You can only hope that they launch the Virtual Console soon and go full force with it. Personally never cared much for VC but the mobile gaming aspect the Switch is providing makes me more interested in trying out older titles I already have physically than ever before.
It's slim pickings but Bomberman, World of Goo, Snipperclips, Fast RMX, Blaster Master Zero, Shovel Knight, I Am Setsuna and Binding of Isaac are the best of the bunch. Fast RMX. Shovel Knight and Snipperclips being the best out of them depending on taste.
You could also just wait for Mario Kart, Lego City Undercover, Street Fighter 2, Arms, Rime, Puyo Puyo Tetris, Disgaea 5 and Snake Pass which are all out in 2 months or less.
If you have a significant other or a friend who can consistently play with you, Snipperclips for 20 bucks is fantastic.
1-2 Switch is not terrible, but I would wait for a price drop. A couple of the minigames are excellent in showing what some of the tech in the Joycons can do, but the package is not worth 50-60 bucks.
I Am Setsuna is an older-school RPG, and Binding of Isaac is a twin-stick action game. Shovel Knight is a game you really should play if you haven't yet (if you have any love for platformers) -it's a classic.
World of Goo, Little Inferno and Human Resource Machine are well worth a play. Grab the Puyo Puyo Tetris demo off the Japan eshop, it's a good demo, been playing it all week. I have The Binding of Isaac Afterbirth+ as the replayability of that game is insane and well worth the money and offers a great challenge. Zelda and Isaac will keep me busy until end of April when MK8D, Lego City Undercover (surprisingly good), Puyo Puyo Tetris, Has Been Heroes and Shakedown Hawaii release.
