Pro tip: Have an 8-year-old boy join you on your island and you will never run out of things to do. Pick up all the random furniture and fish tanks scattered around the island. Dig up all the stumps and replant trees. Discover which dig sites are fossils and which ones are the items you put outside your house but he stole from you. There is so much more to do than I ever imagined.
I gotta say NintendoLife's review really hit the nail on the head. When they talked about how things were starting to feel a little stale right before Resident Services upgrades and then sudden there's a whole ton more stuff to do - they could not have been more right.
I was starting to feel a little meh with the game with how limited everything felt on like days 5 and 6. Just bell grinding for house upgrades and shopping from the tiny selection in the shop (I hope that upgrades at some point!)
But RS upgraded for me today and I can see so much more to do! And terraforming isn't even until later!
Animal Crossing has always been a slow-burn game. It's not designed to be binged and rushed through, and in fact, doing so can ruin the experience.
@Xyphon22... I’m with @Heavyarms55 on this one. 😂 I’d never forgive the kid for wrecking my island! Don’t get me wrong, I love playing video games with my best friend’s boys but there’s no way either of them would ever join my island.

Anyone know what the small update we got yesterday did? Did they patch the duplication glitch?
@Mountain_Man I know it's a slow burn game, I dumped hundreds of hours into New Leaf. The slow wasn't the problem, it was that I already was starting to feel like I had done everything and I'd end up spending the rest of the time just detailing my house. That's why, before resident services upgraded, I was getting disappointed because it felt like there was a lot less to do than there was in New Leaf. But now that it has upgraded, it feels like far more than New Leaf and I can easily imagine spending a long long time customizing the island and building things.
Also I completely agree about rushing. There are a lot of people doing things like mass catching tarantulas or abusing the duplication glitch and raking up huge amounts of bells super fast. And frankly I don't want to do that because I don't want the game to end so quickly!
@BrittGOAL14 Kids are fine - if they go home with their parents at the end of the day. It's a shame I'm an only child, because I think I'd love to be an uncle, but I'm very glad I'm not a parent. I'd be the irresponsible uncle who teaches kids bad words and tells embarrassing stories about their parents - and spoiling the kids with gifts. They can visit my AC island, but they can't live there.

@Mountain_Man@BrittGOAL14 It's awesome details like that that make me all the more shocked that PETA went out of the way to attack the museum in Animal Crossing. I don't see how anyone can look at that museum and think "golly, those animal really have it BAD!"
At least I can kind of understand the fishing thing. The hook through the mouth of the fish would obviously be a pretty horrible experience. But the museum? The animals live in safer friendlier environments than they would be in nature! It's not like we're killing, stuffing and mounting them!
Hook through the mouth isn't a horrible experience. Every other teen has metal pierced through their face, and they think it's cool, not horrible.
Horrible is what comes after hook: Not being able to breath, the blow to the head, the knife sliding in through the knocked out body ripping out the worthless organs, cooking their fresh dead bodies up and eating them - none of which is present in Animal Crossing. It's a good vegan game where you can only eat a healthy selection of fruit and coconuts - and sugary sweets (you get access to only once a year). When catching fish in AC you carefully put every single one in their own brand-new perfectly-sized fishtank where they can live for more than 100 years! Not a bad age for a Guppy! And the Animal Crossing museum is a safe haven for creeplies and fishies, and it's definately more animal-friendly and a lot cleaner than what we can observe in most real life zoos.
Peta's weird sometimes. In their own Switch game (Kitten Squad) you can turn your cat into a pile of bones by standing in a robots chainsaw.
@SKTTR No one enjoys the actual piecing. Once it's healed, they think it's cool. And I can't speak for everyone, but everyone I've ever seen cook a fish kills them quickly. I've never heard of anyone cutting them up alive.

iirc, New leaf is the same. And plus GracieGrace, Tortimer Island and Brewster did not come till much later. GG took many days and night to catch her for a total of more than 3 if you don't have the outfit/style she requested. I hope she will return and we get Tortimer Island so we can swim. Brewster I read somewhere that there will be a coffee shop in the museum ( take it with a pinch of salt )
And then the setting shop up and their upgrade took more than a day? ( I don't remember this one, just feel this new game, any construction only take 1 day. )
My Brain, eyes, and fingers are not team player. They don't coordinate with each other.
Just recently got resident services and I'm surprised at how expanded my scope feels now. Deciding the best places for bridges and inclines is great as I want to get my islanders to explore more of the place, so I am keeping them in mind.
It does feel a bit slow to gain nice items due to the store not being upgraded yet but luckily visiting friends islands opens things up a bit.
One thing that really bothers me is that you can’t change measurements type in game! I’m from Croatia and used to mm, cm, kg etc and stuck with feet and pound.
I don’t know is that related to my UK store digital purchase or what but it’s annoying af.
Also.. you can’t change country anymore in nintendo id settings. Really Nintendo?! At least they could give a one time warning before changing.. but nooo.. now I’m stuck in UK store forever
Yay! Got my inventory fully upgraded! Or at least 4 rows. I could see them adding a 5th row somewhere down the line.
And I love all the small details in this game. The electronics set lets you turn the little LED light on and off. And when you take your shoes off, your bare feet make different sounds! When you turn the light in the fish tank on and off for the football fish, it actually is turning the light on the FISH on and off!
Oh and is there any way to switch to the move objects mode outside? I really want to put flowers in the middle of the table like I can indoors, but I can't figure out a way to push them to the middle. Inside you can do that easily with the move objects design mode (pressing down on the D pad)
Got the resident services upgrade this morning. Awesome! Can finally relocate my house. When originally placing my house, I thought I had a picked a nice, out of the way spot only to find out later that it's kind of in the way, so I'm moving it to one of the second tier plateaus where it's a bit more isolated. Now I just need to build a slope so I don't have to use the ladder all the time.
Oh, and did you know you can get multiple items by shaking a tree? I got five branches from a single tree. Even if you get nothing on the first shake, subsequent shakes can dislodge items.
