They might as well just cancel the games outright at this point. There will never be a time where political and military strife is absent in today's world.
@SnackPop That's my problem with this decision too. There are always going to be conflicts and wars going around. The situation in Ukraine is awful but there is always going to be suffering and bad circumstances in some parts of the world. I'm also pretty sure that the people of Ukraine probably don't care about a cartoon war game from a kid's company being released. There's a ton of other actually realistic war games being released all the time; if anything should be delayed, it's those games.

Those who are like big mad about this are kinda cringe to me. It is just a game, we are looking down the barrel of WW3, let Nintendo make their gesture to not profit off their war game right now while people in Ukraine suffer.
Like I think it is fair to be sceptical of the mostly empty gestures by big brands, the US didn't face what Russia are facing right now, despite the war crimes their politicians committed in Iraq, Iran, Afghanistan and Activision profited off Call of Duty the whole time this was happening. And like I especially disagree with the decisions that seem to harm regular Russian people who were just unfortunate enough to be born there under some muddy 'we stand with Ukraine message'. They say it trickles up, but it doesn't. The people who are the apparent targets have ways around Sanctions. All you'll do is make desperate people and drive them Putin's side. But this is not the place for that.
But I really just think you guys should just leave this one alone, like some of the comments on the announcements border on cancel culture rants and those people should just be quiet. This is not the time, or the place.
I can understand that. I was really looking forward to it and was going to be day 1, but I also have triangle that I'm really deep in right now. So it's no biggie.
@Pizzamorg WW3? We're not destroying the world with nuclear warfare for Ukraine, as harsh as that sounds. Putin is a crazy older man that is losing everything. His whole invasion was a failure.
Don't buy into the WW3 hype; so many people on Twitter have been clamoring to.
The Harder the conflict, the more glorious the triumph. When the going gets tough, the tough gets going.

Great take away from my post, thank you for your... empowering message?
@MsJubilee To be honest I don't think you understand the situation. The invasion wasn't a "failure" as they have taken over multiple areas and isn't even close to being over as it's literally going on right now. Russia are more than likely to end Ukraine's national sovereignty and integrate them back into Russia.
But you are right no one is willing to intervene as it's just Ukraine as they lack EU, NATO etc membership. Sanctions to stop goods and money may work in the long term but Russia has good ties with China and other countries too so they aren't reliant on the West.
Real talk. All it takes is for some Russian soldier to press the wrong button on a panel onsite at Chernobyl for things to go really wrong, really fast.

I really hope that WW3 won’t end up being a reality. I really don’t want to be around during a world war.
I also really don’t want to get drafted. 😣😣😣😣
I understand their decision to delay and kind of agree with it. But it will need to release at some point. Wars don’t last a couple of weeks or months they last for years. And after that another war will start somewhere in the world. If a cartoony war game can’t release during a war then it can never release. War will always happen.

My 2 cents is that the delay came about because the war is JUST getting started. Fatigue hasn’t set in for the masses in hearing about it. Once the war’s consumer fatigue hits (and it will, rightly or wrongly, with timing depending on new, major sanctions announcements and/or significant escalations in the war itself), things like this game will be back on the calendar for release.
Announcements like this do help keep the war at the forefront of the news, even if it’s on a more micro level of Nintendo followers only. But, as others have said, it’s also optics from a company/brand perspective. Heck, it also could just be the company doing what they (employees and leadership) felt was the right thing to do.
I'll be honest, I really wasn't expecting them to delay it. My reaction is mostly "huh". Considering how I both want the game to do as well as possible and would not necessarily have time for it next month anyway, I'm more than fine with that.

I honestly don't see that happening. I will say that I did downplay the invasion of Russia by calling it a failure like @Jump said. But WW3? No, not for Ukraine.

I honestly wonder why this game was delayed from last year to begin with. Isn't this just a remake of a GBA game with modern graphics?
I mean, they remade every element of it so outside of knowing where everything goes in the levels and whatnot, programming would presumably have the same possible issues as a new game.
Though its equally likely they delayed it because they didn't see people paying attention to Advance Wars during the holiday season and thought April would be better which...would be funny in hindsight.
I can't personally confirm this - haven't played the first two games, so this will (eventually) be my first rodeo with this series - but some netizens seem to think this was delayed because the faction in the first game who kicks everything off is actually a parody of Russia. Add to that how the games make light of war, and...I can see how releasing the games now would be in poor taste to some.
I admit I'm disappointed, but I do understand the decision. On a less serious note, at least this no longer releases too close to 13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim for my comfort.
