I don't mind paying a premium price if it's a good quality re-make.
These are pretty big games that'll take 30-40 hours just to get through the main campaign, and you could easily end up sinking hundreds of hours into the extras and the multiplayer.
To my surprise, this is set to be pretty damn big at around 11GB!
My guess is that animated cutscenes may be the cause of the bloated size (and there would have to be a lot of it too!), because I can’t imagine that the game proper would gobble up so much data.
I've watched some of the footage again and I've changed my mind about the art style, I prefer it to the original now. Those animated character portraits in particular are gorgeous.
I had/have both Advance Wars 1 & 2 on the GBA. Unfortunately I lost my AW1 card somehow, so I'm really looking forward to this remake and playing 1 again. I think I preferred AW1 out of the pair of them, but mainly because I completed it, whereas I got stuck on the final battle of AW2
The graphics looked great to me on the Treehouse, and the online play sounds intriguing. May make NSO membership worth it!
Game of the show for me, even if a tad expensive. I am hoping for single switch multi as well as online; I am hesitating to call it "hot seat" since you'd be passing the system around, but you know what I mean ;P
$60 for 2 games with a pretty extensive visual overhall seems like a pretty fair price to me. Much fairer than Skyward Sword HD, which should be $40 max.
Been meaning to dive into this series for some time through the Wii U VC and just hadn't yet. I'm glad this is coming to the Switch and will certainly pick it up. Though so far I think I prefer the pixel art I've seen for the original games vs. what we saw in that trailer. Not that the new style looks bad by any means. Honestly, as with most art styles I'm not fully sold on, it'll probably grow on me.
Currently playing: Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story + Bowser Jr's Journey, Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of Dana (Switch)
I think this art style looks a hell of a lot better than Fire Emblem Three Houses, tbh. It is a simpler game though, granted.
I actually agree with this, yeah.
Honestly I've been thinking about it...considering how the COs in Advance Wars never seem to care about the actual soldiers, it kinda fits way better than they look more like toys now.
It is funny watching the confusion considering Way Forward is just taking cues from the series itself. Advance wars was released in Japan as Gameboy Wars Advance 1+2 (hence the new name) and the “new artstyle “ is pretty much the artstyle of the cover of the first DS game. Folks are like “they changed it!” When WayForward essentially restored it.

I wonder if we'll actually see this in April now given the events in Ukraine. I imagine Nintendo would be on the receiving end of a fair bit of criticism releasing a 'War' game at the moment.
@dmcc0@Silly_G You beat me to the post that I doubt Nintendo will halt the release of this game but there may be a downplay in the marketing of the game upon release.

@Silly_G Not trying to conjure up any controversy, it was just a thought.
I doubt they'd recall anything if it's already released. I guess the streaming platforms are more likely to just not promote war-themed movies or shows at the moment rather than removing them altogether.
TV stations change scheduled shows or movies quite often when current news means it might be insensitive to show it at the time - I'm sure The Towering Inferno was scheduled to be shown shortly after a bad fire in a tower block here in the UK and something else was shown instead. Releasing a 'War' game a few weeks after a significant war breaks out might be considered insensitive.
It wouldn't be the first time things have been delayed or shelved because of conflict or stuff going on in the news. I remember bands like Bomb the Bass disappearing during the first Gulf War with radio stations having an unofficial 'ban' on anything that could be deemed offensive - Massive Attack actually dropped the 'Attack' from their name on one of their releases at the time to avoid controversy. The Childs Play and Natural Born Killers movies were essentially banned in the UK for a time after the James Bulger murder too, so it's not unheard of.
As @FragRed say, they might just release it without much marketing, but it wouldn't surprise me if they delayed it again. Then again, it's not a massive release like COD or Battlefield, so the marketing may have been pretty low-key anyway.
