Hi,
I have got myself in a right mess with linked accounts and could do with some help.

Here’s some context to explain how I got into this mess:

Switch 1 - My son, lots of online activity from day 1. Used my email as linked account for purchases/content control etc.
Switch 2 - My daughter, not interested in online activity so played offline without issue.

Purchased some online content in MarioKart for my son; and wanted to share the tracks with my daughter so added his profile to my daughter’s switch.
Bit messy, but seemed to work for a year or so until my daughter wanted an element of online access in Animal Crossing.

From what I found online I couldn’t have 2 accounts linked to the same profile on a single console and the options were unlink or remove account. The unlink option wasn’t available on the console so I removed my SON’S profile from my DAUGHTER’s switch.
That worked as his account was unaffected on his switch.

However, my problem came when I then tried to link my daughter’s profile to my email address. I thought that would give me two separate child profiles on two separate switches managed by my email address for purchases/content control etc.
Instead, my DAUGHTERS profile was replaced by my SONS.
Initially, I thought all of her progress had been overwritten, but it had been merged.

Positive - I don’t have to tell my daughter she has lost loads of hours progress on Animal Crossing and she will still have access to shared purchased content on my account.

Negative – The profile name/icon on her switch is now her brothers and I lose any way to differentiate content control between the two of them (there is a 2-year age gap).

How should this be set up, so that they have separate profile, progress, controls, but CAN share purchases on family games?
And - Is there a way to move the progress of Animal Crossing back to a separate profile without losing hours of progress.

Sorry for the long post; any help gratefully received!

Update to above. I have fixed it. 😁
Basically I copied the above into ChatGPT.
While it took a few hours, a few dead ends, ultimately it was excellent way to sort.
So if you experience something similar, try ChatGPT first, but if struggling reach out in this thread and I will try to help.
Phew!
