Not expecting very much here actually, as I imagine most 3rd parties will have an agreement in place to announce during the April Direct. I don't think the "floodgates" have opened at all.
I think we already have it, it's Yooka-Replaylee. They just haven't confirmed that the "Nintendo platforms" they were talking about was the Switch 2. Now that it's officially revealed, I think they can now specify it's Switch 2.
As IceClimbers points out, it's tough to predict exactly who's going to be involved in the April Direct, and out of the others, who's going to jump the gun. Switch 2 probably isn't going to release until May at the earliest, more likely June. Still feels like a way off.
You guys had me at blood and semen.
What better way to celebrate than firing something out of the pipe?
My bingo sheet so far:
Marvel Rivals
Red Dead Redemption 2/ GTA V (if Rockstar wants to milk V it for the last time, lol)
FF7
Elden Ring
Wukong
Metaphor Refantazio/Persona 3 Reload
Monster Hunter Wilds/Rise 2
Call of Duty
Halo Collection
Kingdom Hearts 4+physical and non cloud versions of the past games
PS5 is a generation ahead in power. It offers better visuals, higher resolution, higher frame rates, haptics(Superior to HD Rumble) & Adaptive trigger support.
My prediction for 3rd party:
FFVII Remake/Rebirth
Red Dead Redemption 2
Cyberpunk 2077 and Witcher 3 upgrade patch
Halo collection
Eldenring
Persona 3 Reloaded
Metaphor: ReFantazio
Metal Gear Solid Delta and MGS Collection Vol 2
@Waveboy i know. I was leaning into the No Games meme.
Sony use to have great exclusives. Then they got lazy after TLOU and started making games in that style. I hate it and have turned me off from buying a PS5.
Red Dead Redemption 2 or Grand Theft Auto VI - Take Two teased and tested the waters with GTA: Definitive Edition and the first Red Dead Redemption. I'm still surprised with all the money GTA makes (even before Online,) that they'd eat the potential revenue and just port the single player of GTA V if the Nintendo online infrastructure isn't up to snuff for Online.
Red Dead Redemption 2, Tomb Raider Survivor Trilogy, Resident Evil Remakes and Elden Ring have surely all been around long enough to get early port releases.
Sports titles like EAFC, NBA 2K and the obligatory Just Dance will likely be shoo-ins.
Of the above, I could see Elden Ring releasing a little later, perhaps during the holidays. The sheer size and scope of the game world may necessitate FromSoftware taking a little more time to optimise the title before release. However, this timeframe would neatly replicate the release of Skyrim, another open world and equally demanding game for its day on Switch in 2017.
Finally, I would love a GTA V port but simply refuse to get my hopes up until Take Two make an official announcement, as historically, their relationship with Nintendo has been somewhat rocky, to say the least. If it does come however, I think they'll wait until the second year or longer, when Switch 2 has built up a reasonable install base and they can maximise the game's sales potential. We all know Take Two and Rockstar love a good sales headline after all but I'd probably give it a 50:50 chance at this point.
Other solid contenders include Metroid Prime 4, Doom: The Dark Ages, Yooka-Replayee (day one buy!), Assassin’s Creed Mirage, Assassin’s Creed Shadows, Halo: The Master Chief Collection, Final Fantasy 7 Remake/Rebirth and Call of Duty.
Not interested, at all, in playing 3rd party titles on Switch 2 that are already available on PS5, or have been on PS4, unless Switch 2 is doing something holy unique for docked play that the PS5 just simply doesn't offer.
PS5 isn't portable. This is basically a Steam Deck with NVidia hardware, none of the pain points of PC gaming, a more favourable dock/undock transition and the ability to perform better when docked. That's a pretty good reason to care about third party titles. And that's before you consider the diminishing returns we've been getting from more power beyond the PS4 spec

I assume we'll get the big ones in the April direct unless they have a seperate partner showcase. So I suspect we'll get a few big hitters at once. Almost certainly including something from Square Enix. FF7 remake seems like a big possibility.
Nintendo being critised for playing it safe is hilarious. Are you a goldfish? They took a risk with Switch and STILL reaping the rewards. If they had gone for something outlandish folk would have been complaining that they messed up. "You had one job Nintendo" etc etc. Man, can everyone stop overthinking video games. Nintendo have struck gold. The Switch is popular. (It's my favourite console ever.) I'm happy they iterate that like they did with home consoles back in the 90s. But when they pretty much make an ideal games console and folksay they want something different (without actually knowing what they want), man does that sound entitled to me.
But all of the above goes straight out the window for those who don't care for handheld/portable gaming.

And what i loved about the launch Aqua Blue Nintendo 3DS, was that it was yet another example of Nintendo when they were at their creative peak. Pouring out innovations and wonderful ideas that we had not seen prior on any of their home consoles or handhelds.
So you don't care about portable gaming and yet in the same post go on to gush about (checks notes) a portable console.......

I wonder what the chances are of one (or many) sizzle reels during the Direct?
So someone from Nintendo introduces EA and then they do a 3 minute presentation where they show off EA FC, Madden, NHL, F1, Mass Effect and Battlefield etc and then give some vague commitment on dates?
@ZeldaFan83
Ya, i miss the PS1 Sony days. When gaming still felt fresh, new and exciting, especially with the 2D-3D transition with Saturn, PS1 & N64. Back when Sony embodied that fun 1995 pop culture, and took more risks with their exclusives. Jumping Flash! is a wonderful example, Then you've got the first Tomba and whatever else.
And i can't for the life of me get into TLOU. Aside from being a total downer, it almost feels like the game at it's core is so hell bent on trying to just be a movie than an actual game.
Yeah. I totally agree with you. There was a good amount of crap games on PSX days. Mainly because 3D was really uncharted territory. Still, some of the best games came out during that era. SOTN, FFVII, MGS. Really wish we could get SOTN officially ported to Switch or Steam. I’d love to give Konami my money for a remastered version.
@Waveboy
How many 3DS games actually used the cameras? Hell, how many even used the dual-screen functionality outside of map and menu in a way that couldn't just be replicated by having significantly more screen real-estate like the Switch and Switch 2 have? If you look at the 3DS best sellers they're pretty much all games that are functionally the same on Switch. Mario Kart 7, Pokemon, Animal Crossing, Smash Bros, New SMB, Luigi's Mansion, 3D Land, A Link Between Worlds. They even dropped the 3D part of the 3DS in various revisions
And in any case, the original post you made was talking about Switch 2 in comparison to PS5. To which I brought up it being portable, because that's the obvious difference. And then in response you said "yeah, but I don't care about portables since the 3DS because they're all boring now".... despite the Switch 2 in comparison to the 3DS only really losing 3D and the cameras but gaining dual optical mouse sensors, a multi-touch screen, dual IR cameras, a second stick, a second set of triggers and reasonably good haptics
I don't know, I feel like you're just searching for a reason to throw the toys out of the pram here
