Topic: Switch 2, the last bastion of physical game collecting.

Switch 2 is going to simultaneously be better and worse than PS5 in terms of physical games.
Different prices for some flagship titles between physical and digital are asking for the death of physical.
As little space as the Game Card slot takes up (and it's probably pretty cheap to manufacture) I am now not so skeptical Switch 2 will get a digital-only SKU eventually. Maybe Switch 2 Lite will be digital-only.

You do know that is just one option, right? Those game cards are for people who mostly have digital games and may want to share them. It is an option that is available to publishers, just as it is now.

We will still be able to buy actual physical games just like we can now.

Yeah, this is clearly something aimed at the kinds of publishers who are already selling games that aren't entirely on the cartridge and a mandatory download is required just to be able to play them.

If you're going to do that, why not go the whole hog and make the cartridge a glorified key for a downloaded game? They're clearly not worried about the collectors market with this, because they were never catering to them to begin with.
