last year's Q2 software lineup didn't exactly set a high bar.
Plus the Switch 2 upgrade packs (e.g. BotW) aren't included in that Switch 2 software number so it really was just Mario Kart carrying it last year. And some third party games. And the 12 people who bought Welcome Tour 🤔
I think Nintendo are in a great position with their software line-up, as being a platform holder means that their releases have a synergistic effect.
So a sale for Yoshi might not just be a sale for Yoshi. If it helps someone pick up a Switch 2, it could also be a sale for Donkey Kong Bananza. A sale for Fire Emblem could also lead to a sale for Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, which Nintendo also gets a cut of.
I know the AAs and smaller titles are not generally considered "system sellers"...but I think it's worth remembering that it often takes several games to push someone over the edge.
And at least here in the UK Nintendo has leaned heavily on the breadth of the Switch 2's game library (both first and third party titles) when marketing the system.
@VoidofLight@rallydefault I guess I just undure this issue until NS3 comes out in around 7 years due there is no Physical Nintendo Store in my country aka Lithuania to ACCESS repair much cheaper then countries that has it. Or I can hope they make real enchanted NS2 edition (not just visual upgrades like OLED Screen, Bigger Screen, Better Speakers, Changeable Battery, other outside improvements, but it has actual hardware improvements as well like New3DS has it or like PlayStation Pros has it) 4-6 years after initial NS2 release, then I could buy it for myself and give this one for my youngest/little brother. Just this time after months of not happening it happened twice and both happened at mentally bad timings.
Also I'm gonna assume I'm not alone in being in that 10% that doesn't just buy all their top 20 best selling games
That made me curious... As far as we know, the top selling 20 games for Switch 1 were:
1. Mario Kart 8
2. Animal Crossing
3. Smash
4. BotW
5. Odyssey
6. Pokemon S/V
7. Pokemon Sword/Shield
8. TotK
9. Super Mario Party
10. Super mario bros U deluxe
11. Switch Sports
12. Mario Wonder
13. Ring Fit
14. Pokemon Let's Go
15. Pokemon BD/SP
16. Pokemon Arceus
17. Luigi's Mansion 3
18. Mario Party Superstars
19. Splatoon 2
20. 3D World
Personally, I have 13 of those. I didn't have a Wii U so I have all the Wii U ports from that list.
I have 8, and it would be 10 if I included games I only have on Wii U. Sounds about right.
True story: I got Mario Party Superstars because I found out shortly beforehand that Super Monkey Ball: Banana Mania didn't have online, it is the only Mario Party I've bought after 6, so it could've been only 7 games if Sega hadn't been cheap in 2021. (it is funny that the best idea for an N64 multiplayer compilation game came out around the exact same time as the best idea for a Gamecube multiplayer compilation game btw)

I have only 9 of these in my possession.
And for what it's worth, playing the Demo made Yoshi and the Mysterious Book go from a "maybe purchase... eventually" to a "defenitely purchase... eventually". Too many other things that are more likely to go out of stock first that I also want to get. Someday though... I'll get a physical copy. Someday ðŸ˜.

Out of 25 1st-party Switch games I own (if I’m not forgetting anything), 14 of them are on this list of the 20 highest selling Switch games. Besides Luigi’s Mansion 3 (which is mostly something I just want to try to see what all the fuss is about), none of the games I still want to buy on Switch fall on this list.
"well it appears I am upside down. what ever will I do?"
I will reference Deltarune at every opportunity Currently Playing: Kirby Triple Deluxe, The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds Nintendo Switch 2 Username: Owlex
he/him
I have 14/20. Family members have 4 additional games from the list. That leaves just NSMBUD and BD/SP. I have the originals. I had a chance to grab BD/SP for 5€ couple of years ago but didn't feel like it was worth it. Still don't.
