Every year since 1999 has had at least two Nintendo releases with Mario in the title. And most have also had a marioverse series game centered on a different character (e.g. Luigi, wario, toad, yoshi, etc)
2026 already has 2 marios lined up (Wonder DLC and Tennis) as well as Yoshi. That would be a little less than average but not abnormal. So although I kind of expect a not yet announced Mario and/or Luigi game, I don't think it is necessarily guaranteed.
Also, I forgot how insane Nintendo went on Mario related series late 2023 to late 2024; 9 marioverse games in 13 months!
@FishyS We were indeed planning on getting the Switch 2 upgrade. Maybe it would've been better with more single-player content, yeah, but it looks fun enough to at least try out while we're still finishing the main game.
@JaxonH
Are those handles from a separate grip, or are they part of the joycon? I'm kind of a stickler for OEM stuff. I've never had an issue with the OEM feel of holding the Switch/Switch 2.
While a new 3D Mario is certainly possible this year, I never bought into this notion that it's a "given" or the reasoning of DK Bonanza being a "different team". Even if that were true, I think they'd try to space out a DK and Mario release rather than do both back to back and then go the rest of the generation with nothing.
One of the biggest issues I see is influencers convincing their viewers some imaginary announcement for an imaginary game is coming in an imaginary Direct. And then when that game isn't announced, maybe isn't even planned for this year, and even if it is doesn't get announced until summer, everyone gets upset and disappointed.
Of course, if a new Mario is announced those people will be saying, "See! We were right and you guys just wouldn't listen" but if one isn't, they'll just ignore and pretend they never said anything in the first place. Or worse, cash in on videos complaining about why their imaginary announcement never happened.
All that said, I obviously believe a new Mario is in the works, and it's very possible that we see a release this holiday. But it's not a given. And that cannot be stressed enough.

Jsaux Joycon Grips. I like them because they make Switch 2 ergonomic in handheld mode and distributes weight evenly across palms, which actually results in the system feeling lighter to hold (similar to why Steamdeck doesn't feel as heavy as its weight would otherwise suggest).
I mostly like them because they make accessing the right analog feel more natural. OEM works too- it's not that I dislike the stock feel. I just find it a little better when using Jsaux Grips.

Yea, some of my nieces and nephews love the grips and stuff. I’ve tried a few out. Definitely not a bad thing by any stretch, I just don’t mind the OEM flatness.
All of my years playing my original GameBoy trained me to be pretty forgiving with handheld device feel lol
Man I'm so jealous of murrica right now for this lol. It's still 60 usd pricier over here... and I doubt it will go down (maybe in 10 years?), but it's such a great price considering regular 1TB micro sd (sandisk extreme) is like, 190 usd on newegg
@Matt_Barber It has already increased from what I see, a friend checked the amazon history for micro sd card (Sandisk 1TB Extreme microSDXC UHS-I), and the prices has went from 140-145 AUD ish, to 209.44 AUD.
That jump comes at December 2025 and is sticking at 200 plus AUD right now... so it's like 60 AUD increase, which is around 42 USD
On the plus side, there's practically no use for the tech that goes into an SD Express card in a data center, for AI or anything else
Unfortunately it's not quite that simple, it's all interconnected. High demand for fast modern memory and power efficient GPUs means higher demand for the fabs that make those items. Higher demand for those means less capacity for making other components. And then higher demand for the higher end components means those prices go up pushing some people into the mid-range or even lower tier components. And yeah, probably also some price gouging along the way
Hopefully this madness ends sooner rather than later but I'm not really holding my breath

New Mobapad M12’s announced. I’m tempted, but they haven’t been able to match the SW2 rumble yet. You can have the HD version with 6-axis motion and HD rumble (SW1) or the Pro version with standard rumble and 9-axis motion. I’m torn on this because I love the SW2 rumble, and can only play shooters with motion controls. While I really want to jump in with Mobapad, I may have to wait until they release an option where everything is on par with the SW2 joycons.
Another "all-on-cart" NS2 game, specifically a NS2 Edition containing the NS1 version also, Culdcept Begins
And there's a collector edition exclusive to VGP (Canada, ships to US) with a steelbook case. I have the 3DS collector edition for Culdcept Revolt. I'm glad to see the series continue on Switch 1/2.

@JaxonH Worth noting that there are actually two Culdcept games coming to Switch even though they only showed one in the Direct. Culdcept The First, an enhanced version of the first game, is also on its way. Japan got the better deal as their special edition contains both games. It looks very enticing.
I've only played Revolt but I absolutely adored it. And I've not even tried multiplayer where Culdcept apparently really shines. I'm not a huge fan of the new art style but I'll get used to it. The store description has the line "Experience a more accessible evolution of Culdcept that stays true to the series’ charm." I don't mind making it more accessible but I hope it's not at the cost of strategy. Don't dumb it down too much.
Unlike Begins, Culdcept The First seems to be Switch 1 release judging by the special edition. Its Steam page doesn't mention online play either. It seems to be a pretty basic remastering. The two games are handled by entirely different developers.
EDIT: Just realized that Japan has another special edition just for Culdcept The First. Weird.
The whole product page was really confusing to me. The Pro version costs 10 dollars more, yet it only has standard rumble, while the cheaper model has HD rumble. How does that make sense? The 6-axis and 9-axis motion, to be frank I've no idea what's the practical difference between these? Besides those, one other difference between the two is that the Pro version has the C-button while the regular one has an "M-button", but they don't explain what this M-button actually does.
Also, the lack of mouse mode is disappointing. The M6 HD is the best joycon alternative on the market partially because it has all the same functions as the Switch 1 joycons, so I was expecting the M12 to do the same. But it's lacking a pretty important function of the S2 joycons, which means you can't fully replace them with the M12s, like I was able to do with the M6s on the Switch 1.
Apparently Nyxi has already promised that they'll eventually release a version of their pro joycons with a mouse mode, and I'm sure Mobapad will have to follow suit. So I dunno if it makes sense to pay a 100 bucks for the M12 now, when Mobapad will inevitably release an improved version of it in the future. Feels like they've dropped the ball with this one.
@Late
Wow, I had no idea. Is the remaster coming to the west? And if not, will it at least have English? Perhaps it's too early to know.
I'm all for streamlining a bit. I doubt they'll take things too far.
@Polvasti@Lazz
I noticed that discrepancy on the M12 store page. Immediately submitted a question asking why the superior version is compromised with no HD Rumble, and the version with HD Rumble has inferior 6-axis gyro instead of 9-axis. Both versions are compromised. Why doesn't the better model have HD Rumble also? Told them even though I was a huge M6 fan, I won't be buying M12 if it means compromise like that.
I advise everyone here to do the same and send them a consistent, strong message.
