I can't claim credit for that cause I wasn't- I was calculating shipped, but giving a bare minimum, absolute worst-case scenario baseline to show that even then, they'd still be on track to hit their 19m target.

I think they provided that info cause grifters were saying they only "shipped" a bunch of units but none of them were actually selling, and they were piled up at retailers and the "real number" would be like 11 million actually sold. That infographic completely shut that argument down.

It's so silly anyways cause we've always gone by shipped. It's is the pound for pound consensus metric everyone uses and has always used.

Agreed.

I played and beat the Pragmata Sketchbook demo twice on Steamdeck. Not only is it a great game, engaging you in a multi-tasking sort of way few other games attempt (think Astral Chain or The World Ends With You), but it looked great even on Steamdeck in 720p on the Ultra Lowest settings at 30fps.

So anything above and beyond will just make it even better. And it will have gyro aiming, which will really help when going back and forth between hacking.

You hold ZL to Lock-On and bring up hacking panel, but all shots are then aimed at center of enemy where you're locked on. But by letting go of ZL to stop hacking and free aim, you won't need to move thumb to right analog as you can instead just make a quick, instant, subtle movement of the wrist to aim exactly where you want while keeping thumb on face buttons to instantly begin navigating the hacking puzzle once holding ZL again.

It's such a small, nuanced thing but it's stuff like that I really appreciate about gyro. I hope the game does well on Switch 2. We're gonna be inundated with so many games, Idk if most will be able to afford them all.

In about a 4 month timespan, consider all the NS2 software releasing competing for our time and money...

  • Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade
  • Dynasty Warriors Origins
  • GRID Legends
  • Dragon Quest 7 Reimagined
  • Mario Tennis Fever
  • PGA 2K25
  • Yakuza Kiwami 3
  • Ys X Proud Nordics
  • Reanimal
  • Resident Evil 7
  • Resident Evil Village
  • Resident Evil Requiem
  • Disney Afternoon Collection
  • Pokopia
  • Fatal Frame 2 Remake
  • WWE 2K26
  • Monster Hunter Stories 3
  • Virtua Fighter 5
  • Super Mario Bros Wonder NS2 Ed
  • Pragmata
  • 007 First Light
  • Borderlands 4 [TBD]
  • Elden Ring [TBD]

And let's not forget there's also a few NS1 titles releasing as well...

  • Tales of Berseria
  • The Show 26
  • Mega Man StarForce Collection
  • Tomodachi Life

And that's not even mentioning games like Gear Club 3 Unlimited, Chromagun, Carmageddon, etc.

Personally, I'm grabbing over half of those, but I'd prioritize

  • Final Fantasy 7 Remake
  • Dragon Quest 7 Reimagined
  • Mario Tennis Fever
  • Ys X Proud Nordics
  • Resident Evil Requiem
  • Monster Hunter Stories 3
  • Pragmata

And since Final Fantasy and Dragon Quest already released, that really just leaves 5 main games to focus on over the coming months. But some may not be into Mario Tennis (I am, but I get its not for everyone) and not everyone will be into Falcom JRPGs (if you are you are, but if not I think Trails in the Sky 1st Chapter is the one to dive into for Trails, and Ys X Proud Nordics is the one to dive into for Ys).

It's really the Capcom Three that deserve the most attention. Resident Evil Requiem looks peak, and it sounds like they developed it ground up with NS2 in mind. Monster Hunter Stories 3 looks insanely good, so if you're into either Monster Hunter or Pokemon, or just great JRPGs in general, that's a must. And Pragmata is a new IP that's unlike anything I've played before.

Whenever the Pragmata demo drops, I recommend people play through it twice. Only takes about 15-20 minutes to beat. But it combat didn't really "click" for me until the 2nd playthrough. It's just so different it takes a bit to acclimate. But once it clicks, it clicks.

Yoooo Xenoblade Chronicles 2: Nintendo Switch 2 Edition coming up!

@JaxonH People buy new game consoles many, many years after launch. Anyway, anyone who never invested in Switch 1 will be investing in that back catalog either way, but if there's not really anything on the new console worth getting, then it makes more sense to invest in the cheaper console, right? I think this will change as Switch 2 actually gets games that move consoles. Because, outside of Mario Kart World, Switch 2 doesn't really have one of those yet.

@Ralizah It's encouraging news but I wouldn't necessarily take it as a given that the game would come out this year. After all, Jenna Coleman effectively leaked that Xenoblade 3 was in development back in 2021, but we still had to wait nearly a year for it to come out afterwards.

Also, while a XC2 Definitive Edition is a possibility, it could still be a new game featuring KOS-MOS.

People also buy new consoles as an investment knowing new games will be releasing for many years in the future. I think when you're talking about 150+ million people many of whom are normies, there's always gonna be some who just go for the cheaper option and full library. That'll naturally slow to a stop as Switch 2 library builds, but I think Switch has enough juice in the tank to get from the 5 yard line to the end zone.

As for XC2, Idk if they'd add new content when it already got a huge expansion. Not that you said that would happen, but I saw others speculating about it. I think all 4 Xenoblade games are content complete. Only changes I see are resolution, framerate, and perhaps some tweaks to progression blocks like those Environmental Levels in XC2, or changes to the gacha system.

But that's all the games need, tbh. 1440p 60fps. Call it a day.
