Topic: Next Nintendo Direct?

Not sure if that was directed towards me, but I don't place more value into Nintendo than I do with PlayStation. I've played on all major consoles throughout my life time, and currently I'm only playing on PC. My comment about Switch already being the best selling video game console was just a personal take. Maybe I should have added the word "dedicated" to it. 🤷

It's a fair point and I do think people are cheerleaders for brands way too often. Especially in this space.

But I would argue two things about your specific point. Firstly I would argue that it's always going to be in a company's interest to make number go bigger. And ultimately we should just assume that any action they take will be in pursuit of that. However, I would argue that outside of places like this lifetime system sales are a side-metric and as such isn't that important

What Nintendo cares about is maximising profit, not maximising unit sales. Often they're one and the same but in periods such as this they aren't necessarily. What matters more are things like attach rates and subscription rates. Someone buying a Switch over the holidays who buys one game and then shelves it 6 months from now after getting the Switch 2? Not super valuable. Someone picking up a Switch 2 over a PS5 and potentially picking up some new games over the next year? Super valuable

I mean we can play our current games without worrying too much about next Nintendo Direct.
I personally not really eager to get excited with upcoming Switch games currently as I prefer getting know the upcoming 3rd party kids games for PS4 / PS5.
The upcoming 1st party Switch games from next Direct probably will not make me get excited unless Nintendo announce ARMS 2 for next Switch machine, that's the only one thing I care about, another cartoonish boxing game and I will be shocked OMG I HAVE TO GET THAT GAME.

There will be some form of Nintendo video presentation in the next 6 weeks. Guaranteed.

@gcunit Will there? Nintendo has no new first party games to announce judging by the last Direct and might not plan to reveal the Switch 2 this month, then what would they do a video presentation on?

I hope Metroid Prime 2 and 3 will at least be announced.

NoA's being silent, normally the first tweet would've been 3 hours ago.

@FragRed Usually (aside from a few exceptions) the announcements are on Monday or Tuesday.

@Grumblevolcano It’s not the most uncommon thing for Nintendo to be quiet during their usual announcement time, although sometimes their silence does point to something. If the next console is being announced this week, we’ll probably know by the end of tomorrow.

Could be gearing up for a tweet later tonight.

@VoidofLight The Switch reveal announcement took place at 1:30am over here in the U.K. so who knows what time it would happen. But I assumed a Wednesday announcement (though was Thursday over here) like last time, should it happen.
