@FishyS It's not out of the question, but I see it as extremely unlikely because of Echoes of Wisdom's release. Otherwise I'd say there's a pretty good chance that it's next week.
Usually Nintendo avoids putting general Directs/big presentations same week as major titles. If there is a Direct close to a game, it's typically either the week before or the week after said game. Even the June Direct was the week before Luigi's Mansion 2 HD instead of week of.
I think Nintendo will try to avoid a general Direct/major presentation and a major game in the same week when possible. In this case, there isn't any apparent reason Nintendo wouldn't want to do it this week, or any reason Nintendo would want to choose next week over this week.
Based off of when TGS is compared to Directs, about a week before TGS seems more common than same week as TGS. Not that it's impossible, it just wouldn't line up with Echoes of Wisdom's release being that week. If it's not this week, I hope I'm wrong XD
Wednesday NSO drops on Tuesday/Wednesday immediately available instead of a Thursday/Friday release is interesting. This doesn't mean there won't be a Direct, since sometimes NSO gets a roadmap from Directs. Typically Nintendo waits for the month's NSO drop for the Direct, but Nintendo probably would want something more 1st/2nd party to be at the Direct.
This does, however, fall in line with the theory that Nintendo is clearing up the schedule for a Switch 2 presentation, which is seeming more likely now.
A Direct isn't out of the question, but this certainly good evidence for not getting a traditional general Direct
@PikminMarioKirby Just saw the announcement, yep, I was sort of right with the NSO stuff being saved for a random online announcement. Though, I think the NSO news doesn’t really reduce the chances of a Direct happening, I am sure some Directs have come and gone without having NSO news. I still think a Direct could possibly happen (though I think it’s a small chance) and it’ll likely happen without NSO stuff, but it does make me wonder when the N64 drop will happen, cuz looking at that schedule they usually drop a game every two or three months, but they have been really sporadic with N64 releases. I definitely don’t see an N64 NSO update happening this month now that they are dropping four NSO games on SNES.
I personally just don't think a September direct is likely. Console reveal is still on the table, but there's been too much revealed outside of the potential direct for a direct to happen. Most of the series that Nintendo needs to market could just be marketed by random trailer drops, like they did with Echoes of Wisdom.

Interesting seeing people slowly jumping on the September hype train. I certainly felt like I was out there on my own with that view here when I was saying similar things only a couple of weeks ago
I've probably been on August-October since maybe February this year come to think of it

@Pastellioli Yeah I was really hoping for some N64 as well, a lot of good 64 games (mostly by Rare) that are still missing!
@skywake Most Nintendo fans are thinking it's this week. If it is, the reveal will probably be announced today. I think if this week goes by without a Switch 2 presentation, we're waiting for early October. I've been thinking September/October for a while now (more recently leaning on October), but you've had the August-October window for a long time, and it is seeming more and more likely!
I agree that if we don't get an announcement today, the new console reveal will take place during October, but the hype is building up and I cannot contain my excitement anymore!!! Having to wait potentially 1 month more for the reveal sounds as straight up torture though, let's hope for an announcement today!
Just saying, if you don't want the Switch Successor spoiled, I suggest trying to avoid these leaks sooner rather than later. Supposedly, how it looks and possibly more info has been leaked.
I shouldn't be hyped cause I'm still very skeptical but it's hard not to feel the energy around here!😂 Edit: And of course the minute I say that I see the factory leaks lol
I don't really have that much hype with next Switch machine when I still finding code in box and partial download treatments for Switch games especially the 3rd party games, even the 1st party Switch games also.
I wonder if Nintendo with solve that issue and not allowed that dirty business practice in video gaming when they still sell Mario Kart 8 Deluxe with code in box, not the full game with DLC in cartridge.
I know Nintendo want to push the sales target eclipsing PS2 sales by make peoples buy their machine but with that lazy effort by selling Mario Kart 8 Deluxe bundle again with download code, it doesn't look attractive for me.
@Grumblevolcano Been keeping an eye on it all day. Wonder if this is leading to some form of announcement. The whole internet seems to be going pretty crazy today.

@Grumblevolcano I noticed that as well. If speculation is right, we'll be hearing something tonight (or tomorrow depending on region). A normal Nintendo Direct probably isn't in the cards this week, but we could at least get a Switch 2 presentation/Direct
@FawfulsFury Yes but nothing has been posted on Nintendo of America Twitter yet so there’s potential for something to be announced later. Also the Switch announcement was really late in the day. Way past normal announcement times.

@PikminMarioKirby September feels too soon for a Switch successor announcement. Nintendo could produce millions of units tomorrow, yet decide to sit on them until holiday 2025. Which is my assumption. This holiday season will be the OG Switch's last as Nintendo's only platform.
If Nintendo truly want to curb second party sellers / Ebay flippers (as they're on record for mentioning), they'll have tens of millions of Switch 2 units ready to roll out, not just a couple or few million.
