Does anyone know where's the best place to store your phone while walking with this game on? I used to put the phone in my pocket or hold it while walking. Recently I have been putting it in my backpack while walking after reading about cell phone radiation. However, it doesn't seem to register the distance walked with the phone in my backpack.

I keep my phone is my shirt pocket... I haven't researched Phone Radiation... my heart hurts lol jk
People keep saying the Xbox One doesn't have Backwards Compatibility.
I don't think they know what Backwards Compatibility means...
Does anyone else have the Pokemon GO Plus accessory? I've had it a week and, all it does is blink green pretty continuously. You can have the app open on your phone and the watch still blinks green indicating Pokemon nearby. But according to my app, there are none nearby. But, you feel forced to click the button just to make the damn vibrating and blinking stop! and when you do that, it stops and blinks red a few times (clearly indicating there was no nearby pokemon). What sucks is when it behaves this way - you will always lose a Pokeball.
In fact, with this watch, I went through about 45 pokeballs in 15 minutes and only caught about 6 or 7 pokemon.
Does this accessory work? Yes. I'd say a little too much. It needs to calm down, especially when there are no nearby pokemon to catch. I feel Niantic created this device as a way to get rid of all your pokeball inventory.
When I run out of pokeballs, I like to keep the watch on because it keeps track of distance while the app runs in the background. But, you can't do this and keep your sanity at the same time because it constantly blinks green.
It's almost as if the device realizes you have no pokeballs so it just blinks and vibrates waaaaaaaaaaay too much until you finally either turn it off or go buy more balls.
I wish there was a way you could tell it you aren't interested in catching every single Pidgey and Ratata that comes within ten kilometers of my location lol.
Whatever happens, I hope you didn't actually pay money for your Pokeballs because this Pokemon GO Plus watch with make them all disappear fast! >:[
As someone who has played waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too much of this game already, I can assure you I've never seen more attempts to catch Pokemon than this GO Plus accessory. As I said in my previous post, it even tries to catch Pokemon that aren't even there. And then, of course, when it does this - you've lost another Pokeball.
my sole goal in this game now, is to get enough candy for a gengar. I'm 10 candy shy of a gengar. 30kms to walk. with the loss of 3rd party scanners i can't find any ghastly without wandering for so long that the timer on them expires and I lose them. Frustrating as it may be, the walking method seems to be my only way now. I dread walking my kadabra, and terrified of walking 500km for a dragonite. The song from the proclaimers comes to mind now....
"When expecting booby traps, always send the boob in first." -Megatron-
...Evolving Gloom is going to take me forever. T.T
At least I'm having luck with the eggs when it comes to Bellsprout. But yeah, Vileplume and Victreebell (however you spell it, lol) are going to be my strongest.

Does anyone else wonder when they release gen 2 into the wild that it could cause the game to become worse rather than fun?
I know it seems a little backwards to think that more diversity could lead to anything but fun but hear me out. I'm sure at first the release of gen 2 will be just as exciting as the early parts of gen 1. Tons new pokemon to find and evolve. The problem becomes thereafter- you know when say you have still 11 pokemon from gen 1 to get and perhaps two or even three dozen of gen 2 to get.
Right now most people are looking to get pokemon that are not common to their region. That means they are down to a lot of walking for egg hatches and buddying. The buddy system is so slow to get candy that it is a slightly useless mechanic. For example, Bulbasaur are not common to my area and I have to walk 200km to get it all the way to a Venusaur. That's pretty excessive as is, but it becomes diabolical when you begin to realise that behind it you need to walk 120km for a Dugtrio, 160km for a Charizard and so on. So it's a pretty ineffective system unless it's one of the 1km pokemon.
The eggs are a little better and probably the best aspect of the game. Despite the fact that most of them give me stuff I don't need, every now and then I get an important egg hatch that helps me on my way. The problem becomes when you start to add say around 30-40 new Pokemon into the list of egg hatches. All the probabilities of getting a specific Pokemon are going to be significantly reduced.
As an example- currently there are 5 (Diglett, Sandshrew, Doduo, Exeggcute, Vulpix) 5km pokemon that I need to get candy for to complete my dex. The combined probability of it being one of those pokemon in any on egg is 15.1% which is not too bad. But once you consider how that probability will reduce by almost half when gen 2 is introduced, it's actually quite punishing. Because what was the odds of 1 egg in almost 7 being a useful hatch will likely diminish to something around 1 in 10 or perhaps greater. That's either a lot more walking to be done, or a lot more money to be spent.
The same issue obviously applies when you begin to also consider just regular spawns. The chance of a pokemon you need spawning in an area you live in is going to reduce simply by the fact that it will now draw from a larger pool than the original dex.
And of course, this issue isn't necessarily limited to the end stages of gen 2, but will evident right away. Approx 50% of egg hatches will be gen 1 pokemon you don't need, a large proportion of wild encounters will be gen 1 pokemon and so on. In short, the game doesn't seem like it will scale well.
Does anyone have any ideas as to how they can overcome this issue?
@dtjive I'm thinking they're going to wait for the inevitable Pokemon Go 2 to introduce Gen 2.

With gen2 supposedly coming out soon and just for fun, here's a list of the top 20 Pokemon based on the current CP forumla including non-lengendaries and just gen 1 & 2. What the game will be soon, Gen 2 in bold:
@FriedSquid
You can google the exact formula but to put it simply the base stats of each species in Pokemon Go is calculated from the base stats in the main games. Then CP is calculated based on the level of the Pokemon, its IVs and the base stats. And as we all know, higher CP Pokemon? They end up in gyms.
A simplified version of it is something like this:
Stamina ~ HP
Attack ~ Attack x Special Attack + Speed
Defence ~ Defence x Special Defence + Speed
CP is calculated by, more or less, multiplying those three stats.
And just for fun here's the top 10 non-lengendaries for Gen 1 & 2 Attack and Defence:
@skywake I see, that's interesting. Never knew these things before or that they were even present in GO. No wonder I have seen so many of those Pokemon at Gyms.
Anyone else now stopped playing temporarily until a new big update is released? I played the game everyday for ages and got to around level 29, but stopped around a couple of weeks ago since everything seemed to be becoming extremely repetitive. Also, I feel as if Nintendo/Niantic have waited far too long for the release of Gen 2, and although us main fans will still continue to play when it releases, other people who may have played earlier may not now that the hype's died down.
@CM30
TBH I'm fine with it and I think it's a smart way to go about it. It was always a bit odd that the game had eggs but no baby Pokemon. And by doing it this way they can start adding a few Gen2 Pokemon without having them spawn in the wild. Which for more casual players could be a lot more exciting. Spreading it out also means the game is changing more frequently which means we're less likely to get bored
