"The board regrets to announce that it has been unable to reach a position where it feels able to continue to trade outside of insolvency protection," the company said in a statement on Monday evening.
This pretty much puts the final nail in the coffin for high-street video games retailers in the UK. No GAME or Gamestation near me anymore, and it looks like HMV is going out as well now.
Can't say I'm surprised, I haven't bought anything from them ever apart from a few CDs for Christmas presents. In fact I've haven't bought a game from a high-street shop in at least the last year and a half apart from CeX, but that's an entirely different conversation.
Amazon is basically killing these shops, but to be honest I won't really miss them when they'll go. I do hope the people who lose their jobs can get some more quickly though.

You're sure as heck going to miss them once all the major specialist retailers are gone, and Amazon no longer needs to compete on price.

Last I checked, eBay is still a thing.
