Topic: The Game Awards 2025

As long as anything other than Genshin Impact or Wuthering Waves wins Player's voice, I'll be happy. It would be cool if Dispatch won. Haven't played it myself, but it looks pretty cool.

I will say, it still bugs me 2 years later that because they were way too quick to try it get award winners off stage one year that people were like "HOW DARE THE GAME AWARDS NOT TREAT THE AWARD WINNERS SERIOUSLY?" I'm sorry are you new? Most of the awards are given away in 10 seconds with no award winners on screen, its kinda too late to care about that.

Like why is the line "most of the award winners at an award show are never shown for awards given away in 20X less time than the next Fortnite commercial will get" acceptable when that is obviously embarrassing compared to literally any premiere award show for any other medium but "the dozen award winners who got any time at all not enough time" is too far?

@kkslider5552000 I think it was mostly about the way Eiji Aonuma was treated with the acceptance speech for Tears of the Kingdom. He took to the stage with a translator, so was obviously going to need a bit longer than most, but still got told unceremoniously to wrap it up after thirty seconds.

You can accept that the honoring the creators of the games really isn't that big a priority and still think that that sort of behaviour is beyond the pale.

@Matt_Barber I mean yeah, I guess, but for the most part I just don't think it even stands out that much. I only kinda noticed when I watched that year's show, because its not some big betrayal of what the show has been.

Honestly, I don't know why a writer would only have chosen to be mad at the Game Awards in 2023. If they actually care about this, the show's been like this since year 2, this is just something that was fairly predictable.

Honestly I'm kinda hoping neither Mario Kart nor Crossworlds win Best Sports/Racing tonight.
The last thing anyone who's a fan of either game needs is more fuel to the fire.

I mean... Mario Kart World will be in the game news for years regardless and Sonic Crossworlds could use some positive advertisement (such as winning an award) to fuel more sales and thus better longevity of multiplayer.

I would be very happy if either of those won rather than Generic Sports Game 202X Edition. I'm showing my bias but that's the whole problem with that award category... silly Kart game with Mario characters defying physics and going in a circle is not the same genre as 'simulation game of real life sports and real life human sport players and associations'.

I'm hoping CrossWorlds wins so Sonic gets an award in general, Mario's got his fair share of awards and that will likely continue in the near future provided 3D Mario doesn't release the same year as GTA6 but Sonic hasn't won an award at the Game Awards yet.

Donkey Kong won the Family game award as expected, and that's probably it for the Nintendo interest.

From here on in, it's the Clair Obscur awards.

I've only been half paying attention to much of it, but so far my only thought about it worth typing is the fun coincidence that I have in fact been playing the original Tomb Raider for the first time lately.

Man that players voice award really threw me off lol. I've never even heard of Wuthering Waves.

In spite of what I said before, Mario Kart World somehow managed to pick up an award, for a second piece of Nintendo silverware.

It might have had a mixed reception but there's clearly a lot of the games media out there who are playing and enjoying it, still.

The Game of the Year Orchestra was fantastic, especially with it ending with Breaking Through from Bananza.

(could've been better if it had Deltarune music but I digress)
