I'm not defending the line they're drawing for this classification. I disagree with it and I literally said as much. They're attacking the most harmless side of the equation while leaving the actual harmful side untouched. But I can still appreciate the intent which, clearly, is to remove things that normalise gambling

If there was an advertising ban on gambling in places where kids are likely to see it i.e. during sporting events. If there were laws against or serious age restrictions on things like loot boxes and predatory pay to win BS. Literal actual gambling for cosmetics and the like? Then I would have zero complaints about gambling simulation getting caught up in it

If anything the issue I have is that it doesn't go far enough. And that what we have is just regulation that creates additional headaches for developers and publishers but achieves nothing. If it achieved something I'd have no problem with it

Honestly I didn't even think about this but if gambling was a notable issue for children, I could not name a real example of that happening until microtransactions and lootboxes in games existed. Like are your kids deciding to go to casinos because of Pokemon?

Which if I'm right, would impressively, somehow, make this worse.

@kkslider5552000 I wonder if there has actually been any studies showing that gambling addiction can go from games to non-game real life money things. There has for example been studies about violence showing that murdering in games does not in fact make people more likely to murder in real life.
