Hello. I'm hoping that someone can help me. I was wondering if it's possible to physically remove the core memory from a broken switch and put it in a new unit so that nothing is lost. I can see that you can buy new core memory but I'm a bit concerned that the core memory that comes with the Switch from new is registered to a specific motherboard. Currently the Switch will not power on and the USB-C port is beyond repair.
@gfor1979 Would you be willing to upload a picture of your Switch so that we can assess the state of it? I'm very curious about the way you say your USB-C port is 'beyond repair'.
Also when I saw the title of this thread, I thought it was something to do with Inside Out XD

Thanks @Eagly and @Fizza. I'm pretty sure that my son has NSO so maybe all isn't lost. Originally his Switch came with a game pre-installed, would this have been backed up?
The problem with the USB-C is as follows. I asked a friend, who is experienced in micro soldering, to see if he could replace the USB-C port as it was very damaged. The problem started with it not streaming to the TV and ended up with it not charging. When he de-soldered and removed the usb port it ripped a couple of pads off the motherboard. He reckons that it needs a new motherboard. I wish that I'd taken it to a professional but hindsight is a wonderful thing.
