Topic: Remotes not syncing

Bought a used Wii console, 1 remote, and a sensor bar to replace our nonworking console. Now I have 3 remotes and I cannot get any of them to sync with the newly acquired console. I've tried all the methods that I found on the internet. Tried both sensor bars. My two remotes were working when our old console quit and the remote I got with the used console was supposed to be good. Can't imagine I have 3 bad remotes. Does anybody have an Idea what I could try next?

@BobbyU You said you searched internet, but did you search Nintendo support? Most people that make an NL profile to ask a tech question haven't tried searching Nintendo's support page, which is a very good resource. Usually with the switch, 3ds, wii U, if Nintendo support troubleshooting can't resolve something, that's a good indicator that there's hardware failure somewhere, something needs fixing or replacing. (Disregard, or forgive me, if you already searched/tried Nintendo's support page)

@BobbyU Pretty sure the sensor bar plays no part in syncing the Wii Remotes to a Wii, so you can rule that out.

You guys had me at blood and semen.

What better way to celebrate than firing something out of the pipe?

I will give Nintendo support a try. Thanks

According to Nintendo support several of their solutions include troubleshooting the sensor bar or trying a different one if having trouble syncing.

@BobbyU I think you may be misinterpreting those support pages, or they're just poorly written pages.

Wii remote syncing is done via Bluetooth; the sensor bar does not have any Bluetooth functionality.

The sensor bar is just LED lights that the Wii Remotes gauge their position from. There's no 'connection' between the bar and the remotes.

Are you sure of what you're asking about? You know if your remote is synced because you get a fixed blue light/s on the remote. If it won't sync the blue light/s just flash and then go off.

If your remote is synced but you can't get the cursor on the screen to work then yes, you may have a sensor bar issue.

I don't get a fixed blue light. All three of my remotes all the blue lights will flash for about 30 seconds then go off. No single light will stay lit up. I most likely don't know what I'm talking about. Maybe I have a problem with the used console I purchased. My old console will light up with the used power supply that I just got but I can't get any signal to the TV. Neither console will work with my old power supply. Thanks for your input.

The first time you use a remote with a particular console you need to do the following process:
Open the flap on the front of the Wii console and press the red Sync button inside. Then, press the red Sync button on the remote - depending on how old it is this button will either be under the battery cover or poking through it. The remote should then connect. After you've done that once you can just connect it by pressing any button.

I've followed those instructions. I pushed the sync button on the console first then the sync button on the remote and I tried the remote first and then the console with no success. I've held the sync button on the console for 15 seconds trying to reset all stored remotes per some of the instructions I've read. Nothing seems to be working. I have 3 remotes. I think I must have an issue with the console. Don't know what else to try.

@BobbyU I'm starting to wonder if the bluetooth on the wii has failed/died. I don't have extensive Wii experience, but I've seen people with Switches where their wifi had to be replaced. And your scenario is making me think something may need repair. I'd prefer to be wrong, though.

And, be sure to tag people with the @ symbol if you are replying directly to them. If you use Reply Button on someone's post, it will automatically tag them in your post. I've tagged @CinnamonRobin since it looks like you maybe wanted their attention.

@WoomyNNYes I think you are correct cause I would be surpiseed to have 3 bad remotes. I bought it used off of Facebook was told it was working but I don't think it was.

Thanks

Is it worth sending in for repair? I see I can buy a new console only off amazon for $108.00.

I was wrong it is not new, it is used but in very good condition. So they say.

@BobbyU There are millions of used Wiis out there. I suggest you try asking people you know/live near if they have a working Wii and Wii Remote and you borrow them to test the gear you've bought with.

Yes that is what we thought we would do.

@BobbyU Your call if you want to get it fixed, or not. My brother and I have both used eStarland near DC for console repair. Although, their site info regarding repairs is grossly out of date. You have to go in person. They needed a week for repairs the two times we used them. If you're not near DC, you can look up retro game stores to see if they do console repair.
