I believe you can buy Nintendo gift cards from Amazon and use the code in the Nintendo eshop in exchange for virtual funds.
https://www.nintendo.com/giftcards/

I'm from Singapore and that's how I bought items off the eshop on my 3DS.

@Glaciial Eshop only accepts the currency of the region it's set to. And, as Maxenmus mentioned, you can use eshop gift cards (the currency of the eshop gift card must match the region your eshop is set to).

So, if you don't have US currency, and want to buy from the US eshop, you'll need to buy a US eshop gift card that has a value in US dollars.

(I'm in the US. If I want to buy from the Japanese eshop, I go to playasia.com to buy a japanese eshop gift card with a Yen value.)

Just for the record, the eshop might not be available in all regions, which is the real reason why I resort to the gift card method - the eshop is locked out for me if I set my account to Singapore. I don't know if it's the same for @Glaciial and the middle east though.

@Maxenmus That's true. Not all countries have an eshop.

I know Brazil didn't have an eshop region for the first four years of the Switch. So, back then, anyone that lived there had to buy from eshops of North America, UK, EU, Japan, etc.

@Maxenmus yes the eshop isnt available in the middle east. Usually I buy the gift cards from local stores and most of the time I get them for less money than amazon becuse I have to pay with usd if i'll buy them from amazon

@Glaciial Yeah, the Nintendo eShop is strict.

This may be a long shot, but you could try setting up PayPal for eshop to see if your card will work that way. PayPal has been a solution for a few weird regional issues. Don't get your hopes up too high, but maybe it's worth a try.

To set up PayPal for you eshop, I think you have to log into your nintendo account on nintendo's website to set that up. I'm fairly certain that's where you do it.

Good luck!

Not sure if something similar is available in your region, but I have a Revolut card which I got when I was working abroad and didn't want charges from my bank. I now only really use it for shopping in other region eShops
