I got my switch in June 2019, and my controllers are drifting and not working. On 2 of them, they drift, and on one of them, it drifts and the A button doesn't immediately register. I've calibrated them, but nothing works. Can I still send them in?

@Marioman2020 You're probably better off just fixing it yourself, try some rubbing alcohol on a qtip and clean under the flap of the stick. There's Youtube with instructions somewhere if you want to see how others have done it.

@Marioman2020 I think nintendo will service any joycons for free at this point, even yours from 2019, even joycons from Switch launch 2017. If waiting for the process isn't attractive, and money isn't an issue, you could buy new ones now, then send the faulty ones in for repair, and keep them as a backup pair. (even if just for parts.😉)

It's been pretty easy to get a person on the phone, or you can use the chat messenger. Ask what they think turnaround time is so you have an idea of what to expect.

My experience filing a claim with NOA couldn’t have been simpler. They sent me a shipping label, I shipped both joy con, the moment NOA received them, they shipped a brand new pair to me. The whole process took about four days. I screwed around with contact cleaner and canned air for months, and all they do is delay the inevitable.

Ok, Thanks! Will probably do that, but will wait a week or so before closing this thread.

@Marioman2020 - I did this about a year ago and haven’t had to deal with it since, but the joy con warranty is essentially indefinitely extended due to a known, but not entirely widespread defect of unspecified origin. Just follow the link Woomy provided, and there’s a specific section about filing a claim on your con, and that gets the ball rolling.

@WoomyNNYes - I didn’t write down serial numbers to compare before I sent my OG set in to NOA, but it had to be a new set. They shipped in a brand new, sealed joy con box like you see at retail as soon as my cons arrived, and they’re just totally different. I’ve had three pair, and all three have a lot of variation, as if they were made at different facilities out of different materials. My OG pair felt really cheap, they were always squeaky, and the left stick was crunchy out of the box. The replacement set are of a different, higher quality plastic casing, they’re silent when I use them, and just overall much better than the set that came with my Switch. I received paperwork stating that the con were either repaired or replaced, so it must be more cost effective to just ship a new set as opposed to paying someone to actually repair them. Speculation on my part, but I found the experience interesting.
