Most of my Wii U games aren't on discs they are downloaded to my Nintendo account. If I got a switch would I be able to play my downloaded games with it? Do they stay saved on my Nintendo account? If I cant what happens to all those games? Can I only play them if I keep my Wii U? Ive never upgraded any gaming systems and I'm pretty new to all the consoles so it would be nice if you guys could explain this as simply as possible. Thanks for helping!!

Currently, and for the foreseeable future, Switch cannot play Wii U games in any form. The only games Switch can play are those that have been released as Switch games.

'Virtual Console' games are likely in the future - this is where an official (hidden) emulator is used to run digital games from old hardware, but I think it's very unlikely that the Switch will be able to emulate Wii U games.

If you bought some Virtual Console games for your Wii U then there's a chance you won't have to pay full price for the same game on your Switch, but we don't know about that yet.

So yes, if you still want to be able to play your Wii U games then you'd better keep hold of a Wii U.

Switch not being backwards compatible was a terrible decision by Nintendo.

People keep saying the Xbox One doesn't have Backwards Compatibility.
I don't think they know what Backwards Compatibility means...
