Donkey Kong is the only game i wanted to play since finding my n64. Most games didn’t work, but worked just fine after a good cleaning. I have 2 DK games and they are the only ones that don’t work. Just a black screen. Took to game shop and worked just fine on their system and they tested it with my expansion pack.

Idk how to fix this. This is literally the only game i want to play!

That's a shame - if it works on their console it probably means there's an issue with your N64 rather than the cartridge. Rare did tend to push the hardware to its limits (Banjo Tooie remains notoriously hard to run via an emulator due to this), which could be why other games work fine on your N64 but DK64 doesn't. You could try cleaning the cart slot itself to see if that fixes it.

Failing all else, if you've got a Wii U, you can buy it on the eShop. It runs a little smoother, although I had to do some finagling with the control mapping (the N64's C buttons just do not map well to the right stick at all, particularly in this game, so I ended up mapping C-Left and C-Right to L & R)

I would definitely try to clean the cart slot, The best way I know to do it is to get some very thin material a nice cheap white pillow case and wrap some of it around a credit card and plunge it in and out of your cart slot, If you look on my youtube channel I did a video showing this years ago, you used to be able to buy cleaning kits that worked a bit like this.
