I just wanted to post this thread for anyone who might have the same trouble I had . I have a controller that does not seem to firmware update and because of this, when playiing mario kart 8 deluxe the game runs slow, even off-line. A controller that comes with the switch works fine ( Joycon's ). The controller was very cheap, I think I paid €25 for it.

@Ninfan That should be a good enough reason to return the controller, if that performance issue makes you want to return it.

Run very slow?
Was it on 50 cc?

@Ninfan Well what do you except for a cheap controller? Something that's good?

I am confused. Do you mean the game was like really slow or there was a lot of input lag? If the game was slow maybe up the difficulty a bit. If it was input lag then the best advice is to stay away from cheap controllers.

200 cc was too fast for me, I always choose 150 cc for the fastest speed.
Anyway, if you complained for being too slow for 150 cc, how fast do you want ? 9999 cc ?
The problem was not from the controller, it was your perception about the speed. Mario Kart 8 is NOT F-ZERO so it will not have crazy speed.

I think it is just the speed of the game. Each cc is a different speed than the other. By input lag I don’t mean the game freezing, I mean how much time it takes between the push of a button and the action.

@Anti-Matter when I changed controller everything worked correctly and has since I changed it.

I'm not sure how any controller can affect the speed a game runs at, cheap or not. Was everything slowed down, or was it just your car that was slower? If so, it might be that it wasn't detecting the A button being held down properly.

@CinnamonRobin well as I said the controller wouldn't update and when I used the joy cons that came with the switch everything worked fine. I mean if I NEED a firmware update and it wouldn't update that was what was wrong.
