Topic: Black Screen after a few seconds

Hello everyone

My Switch is fading to black after a few seconds when I activate it. This happened after I dropped the console on to the carpet earlier. Maybe the backlight cable has been damaged? Has anyone faced the same issue?

Thanks!

@Parisk First off, sorry to hear.
I'm a bit distracted by the fact that the screen is stuck on the detached joycon screen but, I assume your joycons still seem to connect & function fine.

I'm not the smartest guy, but here's my wild guess:
I don't think the screen/backlight cable is damaged, because the screen appears to display fine for bit. The fact that screen displays normal for 10-15 seconds makes me think something else is wrong.

When a computer can't cool itself, they can boot up & run normal at first, then it will shut down when it detects the fan isn't working to protect itself from overheating.

Yes I think that your guess is quite logical, something might preventing it from keep working to avoid fatal damage. Might be the fan or something like that. I guess that I have to try to hear if the fan is functioning when I open the Screen.

By the way joy cons are working perfectly this was just a sample where I took them off. I can access the menu just fine with them attached, before it goes black again in about 10 seconds.

Update: Today I removed the SD card and the cartridge from the console and it started just fine. Some kind of glitch probably during the fall? I don't know. Just to let anyone know in case needed.

Thanks!

@Parisk This can only mean one thing. You're Switch is InViNcIbLe!!!๐Ÿ™ƒ๐ŸŒˆ๐ŸŽ†๐ŸŽ‡๐Ÿงจ๐ŸŒˆ๐ŸŒˆ๐Ÿ‘Œ.

But seriously, that's great news. Nice work!

I was going to respond and say looking at that short clip it looks like it could be an SD Card issue but you've got things working again so that's good. Something similar happened to me and it was an SD Card. After formatting it worked again, probably corrupt data or something.

Thanks guys. Yes it must have been something with the SD card. I did a formatting too and know it works just fine.

Thanks again!
