Favorite:Dualshock (PS1 PS2 PS3) Least favorite:Any Wii controller (not including Gamecube).
I don't mind the motion control, but the Wiimote itself is annoying. I hate the classic controller, it is very uncomfortable. The nunchuck..... I don't even want to go there.
The Game.
Is it after 9PM EST? You should probably ignore the above post.
a)Always had a soft spot for the looks of the Dreamcast controller b)Probably the Xbox 360 for using c)Innovation is obviously the Wiimote, but the DC did have the pretty awesome memory card thang!
As for the worst, hands down this monstrosity:
^The Atari Jaguar controller = fail
Wii: 4057-1101-4172-6642 Mario Kart Wii: 5069-4059-7720

Wait! Did Atari just rip off Sega?? Because that controller setup vaguely resembles that of a Mega Drive controller, only a Mega Drive controller didn't have a like remote control underneath it. My, God, man! That's so bizarre.

Basically imagine the Mega Drive controller, only with dodgey build quality (I seem to remember a slight tug was all that was needed to pull it out ) and a weird number pad on the bottom that made it just unnecessarily uncomfortable to use

Well, the buttons controlled. But the joystick was supported by something really weak, which was a stupid move on Atari's part. What was even dumber? They didn't release a replacement. Bunch of half-wits.
I don't know if I could pick a favorite. (I have trouble picking favorites in everything, really.) Just between the previous gen systems' controllers though, I preferred both GC and PS2 over the Xbox. Both of Microsoft's system controllers just don't look or feel right to me.
The 5200 controller was a bunch of arse: stick broke easily and the fire buttons on the side? Idiotic to say the least. Possibly the only controller that could be worse is the Intellivision one which had membrane keys and that horrible 16-direction disc pad.
You may not like the look of the Jaguar pad, but it actually is one of the most comfortable controllers I've ever held. The six button version was superior with the round buttons, though -- not sure why they went with square ones initially...
I'll have to go with the Wii Classic Controller (at least until I've used a CC Pro): best d-pad in the universe and good quality feel all around. Playstation dual analogue is close, but the d-pad is complete rubbish by comparison, though the grip is superior.
a)Gamecube- Nice and rounded, the buttons also looked good. b)Xbox 360- Really comfortable, especially the analogue sticks and L/R buttons. c)Wii remote I suppose, with its IR pointing and motion control.
Fave for looks: N64 - what a funky looking controller Hate for looks: Colecovision - yes I had one, and yes, it looks retarded.
Fave for function: N64 - hands just fit in the right places, buttons felt natural. Hate for function: Gamecube - Z button unnatural placement, d-pad too small, L/R plungers = finger cramp city.
Fave for innovation: tie between N64 and Wii. I still think the N64's analog stick was the best even today, I wish i had an adapter to hook one up to my wii and play my N64 VC games! Hate for innovation: everything by sony. don't get me wrong, sony's controllers work great, but everything they've done was borrowed (stolen) by nintnedo.
Favorites are the N64 controller for 3D games and the Saturn controllers for 2D games especially SF type games, least favorite probably the Master System controller, it wasn't terrible but having to use the console rather than the controller to pause games was annoying, it looks as if there where a lot worse than that, but I never tried them so can't comment.
Favorite: Dualshock, Wavebird Wireless Gamecube controller, Wii Remote (Not only is it innovative, but it's simplicity makes it great for NES VC games)
Least Favorite: Genesis and N64 controllers, Xbox controller (The most unwieldly hunk of plastic I've ever held. The 360 controller is really a huge step up)
Fave: The PS2 controller because it's just the ultimate standard controller that's easy to use, feels great in your hand, has lot's of buttons without overwhelming you. And that's closely followed by the N64 one which while not even being remotely useful for anything that wasn't specifically designed for it, it had a really neat design and probably the best analogue stick I've ever used... Until the damn thing inevitably would brake. But when the control was new it was neat. Least: Two way tie between the original Xbox and the Dreamcast controllers. Both suffered from being too big and clunky. Especially the Xbox controller but the Dreamcast had that awkward "cord on the bottom of the controller" issue to deal so it all evens out.
