Any chance we're going to get an article on the stunning losses Nintendo's realized? I'd love to have mainstream conversation about the reasons and the predictions...
understood and agreed, but it is an unprecedented decline in recent times and represents a significant loss of investor confidence. as such, it's very much a part if the story...
what's more, i find it remarkable that Nintendo's not appearing to respond in the slightest... a sign of strategy?
regardless, it would seem wise not to ignore this portion of Nintendo's story...
I don't think Nintendo's games have featured prominently in shops ever since the GameCube wasn't a success, at least in the UK. Even the Wii only had the same games on display for 3-4 years and the likes of Xenoblade, Fire Emblem, Metroid Prime and Punch-Out!! amongst others had one possibly two shipments and were never restocked again. If that's what this is about, I'm not 100% sure, but if this is the issue as I say it really shouldn't be one at the moment as it's been this way for the best part of a decade, if not longer.
EDIT: I've re-read and now I think you're referring to the Stock Market, my bad. As for that, again I don't see the issue. Nintendo's stock was higher than it's been for years only a few months ago, maybe just wait a while for it to rise again? I'd imagine that will be the case soon.
regardless, if you can look at the share value decline, decide there's a story in the case of a relatively slight drop resulting from the miitomo announcement, and write an article on it, i don't see why then you wouldn't write one on the continuing exponential drop we're seeing now.
in the past nintendo has responded to stock drops with announcements (albeit somewhat less vigorously than other companies), and that's only been with relatively little drops. now we've got an incredibly slow news cycle, and nintendo's completely absent... how could that not be newsworthy? especially for a site dedicated to discussing the world according to a perspective centered around this company?
^It's xmas time, there's no point in making any announcements right now as people are paying less attention to things and they've just had a couple of directs.
I think the problem is that after the mobile games reveal the stock price and market cap skyrocketed even if there wasn't much concrete to talk about. Now both are just slowly returning to the values they had before the mobile games reveal. I don't know if there is much to worry about.
