Whether it be a Switch 2, or something completely different, what are your hopes for the next major Nintendo console?

Switch Pro- 4K, Docked only mode- It would make sense, right? We have the switch Lite (Undocked Only) And The Normal Switch (Both). So, the switch pro will probably be docked only.

Just want a Switch 2. Keep the form factor and increase the power such that similar battery life is maintained. Better graphics keeps the system relevant but doesn’t raise the price. I would hope for something either at or a little weaker than ps4/xbone quality (base systems of course) as I feel this system is at least three years out.

My personal wish from Nintendo is some sort of 3ds player so that I can play 3ds games on the tv. I doubt it will happen but I will hold out hope. I have a large 3ds library that I don’t want to see due on that system (I don’t actually like the 3ds but I like the library). But it is as nonsensical as the Switch Pro dreams so I'll keep that one little wish.

@Marioman2020 I’d love a Switch Pro with 4K and HDR in docked only mode. They can do it. And it would be epic. They could also upgrade the memory to 6 gb from the current 4 gb.

The PSVR is the best VR system on the market today.

Agree with the responses so far that Nintendo should just take the Switch and make it more powerful. They've landed on the perfect gimmick here and it would be a shame to ruin it.

Some hardware improvements I'd like to see: analogue triggers, second SD card slot, improved screen (OLED, 1080p), and at least as powerful as base XBO.

Software-wise I'd like to see the ability to suspend multiple games.

Library-wise I would love to see them take the Xbox approach to generations and ease us in - offering full backwards compatibility with the Switch, and supporting both systems for the first year or so.

I'd still like Switch to be portable and have slight improvements from the other, something like New Switch, bigger and better screen, slightly buffed CPU and GPU and that's about it. I just don't see Nintendo going full "pro" on their console with mad specs.

You've met with a terrible fate, haven't you?

Well, apart from the obvious (screen/graphics/power upgrade), I feel that an absolute MUST is analog triggers. I think that Nintendo really missed the boat there, and they've already made this grave mistake ever since the Wii U (I skipped mentioning the Wii there, because the original Classic Controller actually did have analog triggers, and of course the original Wii had native GameCube controller support).

I don't think that having to use an extra adapter so that you can use GameCube controllers, should be a thing, because it more or less forces you to buy extra peripherals in case you want analog control, while in this day and age, analog controls should be something that comes as a standard option.

Secondly, they need a massive, and I do mean MASSIVE improvement and extension of their online and backwards compatible library. Having only 8 and 16 bit titles available for all your loyal customers is completely laughable, especially in the face of infinitely superior services and libraries on the other two consoles, who offer even current gen games, so they most definitely need to step up their game in that regard.

But having said all that, knowing Nintendo, I have VERY little hope of this happening. I think we shouldn't even be expecting any N64 titles any time soon, let alone anything like GameCube or newer. Nintendo will just keep doing its own thing in that regard, wishes of their target audience (or logic) be damned...

Other than that, I also wouldn't mind some backwards compatibility with older handheld cartridges, but I'm afraid that this too is never going to happen, because they never skip a generation with stuff like that, so if it isn't included in the current generation, then it also won't be coming in the next.

I will be happy with a better online infrastructure (voice chat, messages and party options) and if the fix the stick drift.

The controls could definitely be more ergonomic on the switch Lite, I find the right thumbstick especially is way to low and I can feel a pull in the tendons after a couple of hours play. It may help if you could swap out thumb sticks like on the Xbox Elite pads, a taller one might fix the problem instead of moving the location.

A switch Pro with more power seems a little pointless at this stage, a handheld would struggle to compete with XSX/PS5 in terms of power (at least at a reasonable price point) and I dont see the point in upgrading my switch just to play last gen (PS4 etc) games.

With no Power, comes no Responsibility!

A couple smarty pants above reminded me of a couple of these.

  • Analog triggers for driving games.
  • More power, so we don't have to miss out on modern games that come out multiplatform.
  • Fix drift. Or make replacing the sticks more user friendly. Piece of cake.
  • More fleshed out game invite system: If I invite someone to Splatoon 2 or Rocket League, they have no idea what mode I'm playing. Rendering this function pointless. This is why I don't use existing game invites.
  • Virtual. Console.
  • New Mario Kart already.
  • A TV-only Switch would be ideal for my nieces, since they'd probably fight over the Switch tablet. They have enough tablet time as it is, and a TV keeps gaming more social. This is the only reason we haven't gotten them a Switch.

Remove all the surplus spaces in between the brackets to make it work, and then you'll get this:

In case this still makes no sense to you, then the simplest way to watch and learn is to quote my entire comment, and then you'll see how it looks, and then you can copy it with your own text.

My only need is digital backward compatability with the current switch.

I want to pay full price for Wii U games ported to the Switch ported to the Switch 2.

But seriously, a few hardware fixes like better bluetooth support, joy-con drift and more power just to keep up with the times. Obviously not to compete with Xbox and PS but they need some upgrading there. I personally don't care too much but the Switch does struggle at times.

It would be great if they went with the much discussed iPhone model where each new iteration is slower progression as opposed to an overhaul.

Just reiterating what others have said. A proper "Switch 2" in 2-3 years with base PS4 level hardware, full backwards compatibility with current Switch software, and some tweaks to the design (such as fixing drift).

I'd also like to see them upgrade to a 1080p screen, and hopefully have better VR compatibility than what they offered with LABO. Quest shows it can be done with no wires or external cameras, so maybe that's tech they could look into for the peripheral you'd dock Switch 2 into for VR, with the Joy-Con successors being designed with VR compatibility in mind in terms of their optional feature set.

No need for a new console.
But give me a 3D screen accessory for Switch and I'm gonna throw money at it like no tomorrow.
