@Waltz: if what lz said were true, the point would be that since you hate Nintendo, of course you would argue that Peggle is the superior game of the two. Thus, your statement(s) regarding the game and its dev would need to be taken with a healthy pinch of salt given your in-that-case natural predisposition to dislike SM3DL (and anything else Nintendo put forth for that matter). It's kinda like you talking about anything Gameloft's ever put out, or anything Samurai Warriors-related — in both of those instances, we know full well how far out your natural bias goes, and thus we would perhaps need to seek more balanced opinions to get a truer idea of what's going on.

Gameloft has put out some pretty good, and bad stuff. As for Samurai Warriors (which happens to be pretty good, to my surprise), what is the case w/ that?

Hey, typo in the title. Is "Why Ro Nintendo..." correct? I think not.

Well, we're in complete agreeance then.

All I was saying is that since awards are judged by people and not computers, and since game quality is not an objective truth, claiming an awards event is not legitimate because game A didn't win, but game B did, when game B has a legions of fans and is almost universally considered to be a great game, is a little unfair. Especially since a major awards winner is judged by a panel of people, and the person making the claim that the awards is illegitimate is just one person, and therefore more likely to be biased.

FTR Samurai Warriors Chronicles should have won. :3

Oh, I get it. In other words, w/ those two opinions, it's like you took my stances on those two subjects, and amplified them to unheard-of proportions. I get it now.

You know, Waltz's profile goes to a 404 Not Found thing. I was curious to see exactly what he had to say on all this awards & opinion stuff. Did the servers mess up like w/ the favorite VC games topic (now that would be a big error)?

He used to be Waltz, and I think TBD changed his name to ChocoGoldfish.

Well, I don't know if this is just me, but it seems to me that: either video game award ceremonies need more constructive methods in picking the 'best' games; OR, many people who play video games (admittedly including me) need to realize that the best video games can come from anywhere, not just their preferred platforms. Either way, if one of them is achieved, there will be a little less opposition in the gaming world and, in turn, making awards ceremonies more welcoming to the gaming community.

EDIT: of course, you also can't go wrong with both :3

Waltz dislikes Gameloft, and he likes Samurai Warriors. Those may both be understatements, though.

I hate Gameloft with a passion unrivalled in the history of humanity. I would personally condemn every person ever involved in Gameloft to the deepest levels of firey hell, if I had the power.

I love Samurai Warriors so much that.. best not spoken, that one.

How's that? :3

But seriously, best handheld game isn't Radiant Historia, award show invalid. Factual. Thread finished. Saving the game for New Thread Plus! Thank you. Good night.

@ChocoGoldfish I don't think size and development cost are what some people are concerned about, it's more of the depth and 'experience' that are made possible by the resources available. Also, some people may not like the fact that mobile game is developing more to be comparable to handhelds (minus the buttons). All in all, until I get a specific method of how they pick the games, then I'll still be weary of the mobile/ handheld gaming..at least.

Hey true story. I've played Peggle HD more than SMB 3D. Depth and experience indeed.

Seriously guys, Popcap games are virtually endless in terms of depth and quality.

We all know you hate Nintendo

Even if that was true and you weren't just trolling, how the heck does that have anything to do with anything?

Too many people in this thread think their opinion is somehow fact, and therefore this award thing has no legitimacy. I guarantee a lot of people out there do prefer Peggle to Mario.

A lot of people may prefer Peggle to Mario, but there are a lot that prefer Mario to Peggle. And I can guarantee that.

The awards are in the UK so Radiant Historia couldn't have won as it didn't get a European release.

Summary of the argument for dedicated handheld gaming vs 'app store' mobile gaming:

"MY GAMES ARE GAMIER THAN YOUR GAMES."

Peggle is no less of a game than your precious Super Mario.
