Look at it this way. Mircosoft gave rare af least six tires to make games kn their own and they all were either bad ir average or had crappy marketing.

Take viva pinata that game was marketed for kids bit the game was so complex and Sim heavy it wasn't fun. Its still one of the best games thus gen but they really should have kept the mechanics and changed the art style tobe black and white 3.

WAT!

Can you imagine Rare and Retro under Nintendo. That would a killer combination!

the only way rare can be rescued is if nintendo bought them out from microsoft. i'd like to see killer instinct, become nintendo's flagship fighting game, like capcom has with streetfighter and namco with tekken. which nintendo hasn't really had.

I do think it is pretty much Rare's own fault that they aren't really getting anywhere now. It does just seem funny that they really seem to lose it when they went to Microsoft. They missed out on Rare's glory days. The Perfect Dark Xbox live remake is really good though.

they should've listened to their hearts. instead, the lure of microsoft's money was too tempting for them to turn down. yet in the end, they paid the price.

Nintendo let Rare go because they wanted to take their time making games. Rare didn't have any games ready for release close to the GBA/GCN launch window. Nintendo made Rare stop game development on all their announced games and focus strictly on finishing Starfox Adventures ( Which I still own ).

Um, wut the bleh are you talking about? Nintendo let Rare go because the original founders sold their 51% shares to Microsoft. It's a bad business move to own part of a company that you can't fully control since your competitor owns a majority of it.

Also, a difference between Rare and Retro is that only 49% of Rare was owned by Nintendo whereas 100% of Retro is owned by Nintendo. Rest assured there probably won't be a Rare moment with Retro

Star Fox Adventures was alright...but I do have to say it was trying a bit too much to be like Zelda.
That said, I wish we could have a Jet Force sequel. T.T

I remember an article from IGN where one of the editors visited Rare studios and compared it to his previous visit. His previous visit, he saw figures of Conker, Banjoo, pretty much reminders of all their great successes, but this time when he went, he saw that EVERYTHING has been wiped out and replaced with Kinect Sports stuff which saddened him and yeah, it seems that Rare is focusing on making big money rather than quality games now and it sucks.

Rare was losing their magic touch. That's why Nintendo sold them to Microsoft. A decade later, who cares?

plus, as they have retro studios, there is an argument that there is no need for nintendo to buy back rare.

i think for many nintendo fans, most would say rare killed themselves by ditching the big N for microsoft.

I wish Rare were still with Nintendo. I know that they were losing their magic anyway but I would love to have their classics on Wii vc. I really want to play the likes of Conker's bad fur day, Donkey Kong 64, Banjo-Kazooie and its sequel, Perfect dark and Jet force Gemini.

Maybe Rare should just sell their IPs to Retro so we can get those amazing titles back on the Wii U!

Pssh, like I said their primary focus is now Kinect Sports and games like that so since they obviously don't care about their previous IPs, let someone else handle it so we can have those amazing titles back.

yeah, i suppose if they are going to continue making crappy shovelware, they're probably better off with ubisoft for that then.

I always thought it was Nintendo itching to offload Rare to Microsoft because, after the unspectacular showing of the GameCube, Nintendo needed the extra cash infusion to refocus their business plan (not competing directly with Sony and Microsoft, instead becoming an ancillary entity in the console market) and to fund the development of the Wii...
