We've seen it all our lives, and doesn't dare to stop. Cartoons based on video games Pac-Man and the Ghostly Adventures
Pac-Man and the ghostly Adventures seems to be grabbing ratings success and a following as it's Disney XD's top show, over shows like the Ultimate Spider Man, Avengers Assemble and Hulk and the agents of S.M.A.S.H.
It's brought Pac-Man back onto the scene for a new generation, and continues to be one of video games' most popular icons. Rabbids Invasion
These guys have constantly been in the spotlight for Wii users, as their top selling games have been on Nintendo's platforms. They have broken out of their roles as Rayman's antagonists and have been popular breaking out into their own game. The rabbids now have their own TV Show on Nickelodeon, recently been asked to produce a second season, as well as becoming an interactive Xbox One series in 2014. Pokemon
And the there's the big one. Pokemon. The anime has been one of the longest running cartoons on TV right now. We've all likely seen an episode here and there, and have always promoted the generation currently running on Nintendo handhelds.
What are your thoughts on these shows as a whole? Do you like them? Do you want to see a certain series a cartoon, or come back as a cartoon? Do you have a favorite? Please, discuss.
I actually prefer the Japanese Anime of my favorite games. Ones like Street Fighter the Animated Movie and the Fatal Fury series. Honestly the only non Japanese video game cartoons I have seen are the shorts from the Super Mario Super Show and Captain N. Those were pretty decent especially the Zelda ones which I have on DVD.

what I don't like are western TV cartoons in general. they're all dumbed down to be "apropriate" that annoys me to no end.
goodbyes are a sad part of life but for every end there's a new beggining so one must never stop looking forward to the next dawn

Rabbids Invasion isn't the most appropriate thing on the planet. I think the comedy from the game was properly transfered to Nickelodeon. But, I haven't watched alot of episodes in the series.

there are still some good ones but they're always pushed back(sometimes even cancelled) because of incredibly stupid ones...
that Rabbids one looks pretty cool!

My problem with...well, 90% of American television is that most shows have no plot, or character development, or really anything that gives you even a single reason to follow the show. And 99% of the ones that do don't have the right amount of pay-off, either because they're cancelled, or they never think of how they want it to end before they start it. Basically, I guess Americans like their TV shows like how they like their comic book series: Never ending!

Yep thats mine as well. Sad thing is when I do get interested in a show they keep it on way longer then it should be and I get bored of it and quit watching it. Like Burn Notice for example I liked that show at the beginning but around the 4th season I just lost interest in it. I am getting that way with Supernatural now too which is sad cause that use to be one of my favorite shows.

I liked the Pokémon anime a lot as a kid, although I haven't kept up with it in years.
The anime focused around Street Fighter II & Fatal Fury are great, although the newer SF stuff isn't nearly as good (I tried watching the SFIV film, but the animation quality was so undetailed & lazy, it's almost like it's not even genuine anime).
Haven't watched any of the western cartoons based off of video games except for the Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog, but it's been so long since I've seen it that I have no idea how well I'd like it today.
As for animated series focused on fictional video games, Sword Art Online & .Hack Sign are both great.

Switch - Blade Strangers
PS4 - Kingdom Hearts III, Tetris Effect (VR)
Howwwww?!? Whyyyy!?! None of you have mentioned Sonic SatAM, guys!
I'm not really a fan of game-based cartoons, but that's because I don't like the schedule we have for TV here, and I don't think we have anything like Netflix, so I never get into any shows out of fear I'd just run into spoilers before they become available here.
Sonic X (which was based on the Sonic Adventure series) and Kirby right back at ya was pretty faithful to the game series in my opinion and did a good job to make a story so it could be a tv show, those two were awesome but there are plenty of video game tv shows that was not faithful to the original series and was bad/random that should of either never been made or could have put more work in.

...well, I'm a big fan of cartoons (one of the reasons I like MLP so much); I've been watching them all my life! ...there are some modern cartoons that are really good, I think... though Nickelodeon can't seem to make good cartoons anymore, which is a shame... their glory days are behind them.
...the only video game cartoon I've liked, and the only one that stood on its own as a good cartoon, was Kirby: Right Back at Ya!
@Retro_on_theGo I actually used to watch the Tak cartoon when I was younger and it was on, hahaha. ...I enjoyed the cartoon better than the game, but... neither were very good.
Depends on the cartoon. Pokemon is... well somewhat decent. I hear Kirby's cartoon series was fairly good as well, as were some of the Sonic ones.
Many of the others? Not so much. Like the absolutely horrible Battletoads and Bubsy cartoon attempts. Or at least 80% of attempts (by both English and Japanese studios) to try and adapt Super Mario Bros (The Super Show and sequels range significantly in quality but come across as overly cheesy, that Mario anime movie is a bit disappointing, the Mario Amada series is completely pointless and Mario/Kirby Masterpiece is pretty much the opposite of its name).
