Anywho, I got to see it this weekend in IMAX 3D, and it was great! Definitely one of the best films I've seen this year. The sheer beauty of the Grid was amazing, and the writing was better than I expected. Also, DAFT PUNK CAMEO FTW. I'm kinda hoping for another sequel now that the technology has caught up to the film's standards, but I'd be happy if they left the series as it is. The facial de-aging of Jeff Bridges as Kevin Flynn/Clu was also very well done!
I would like to see it; being a fan of the original. Ahem. TRRRRROOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOONNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNN!!!
Sean Aaron ~ "The secret is out: I'm really an American cat-girl." Q: How many physicists does it take to change a light bulb? A: Two, one to hold the light bulb, the other to rotate the universe.
Haven't had a chance to see it yet, but i too am super-psyched. The original film has been one of my all-time favorite movies since i first saw it in the theater way back in '82. I'm probably going to go see it a couple times, since i also want to take my father to see it as well -- he took me to the original, so the circle must be complete!
And while this is a "flim discusssion" thread, i might as well ask, has anyone played any of the new games? I've heard mixed (and mostly bad) things on them so far.

I read a few reviews for the different versions, and the Wii version was praised for it's various games (tanks, light runner, light cycle, disc battles, and the ball-ricochet-game thing). Overall I heard the games were decent at best.
Back to the movie, I too plan on seeing it with some friends, since I saw it once with my father as well. He actually preferred this movie much more than the original, and... I agree D:
I've seen the original but it was too long ago for me to remember much about it. This new Tron was my first ever IMAX and 3D experienced. That aside, I'm inclined to give the movie a 8/10. Some of the people I went with stated that the 3D effects were disappointing in comparision to other 3D movies that they had watched. I've also heard that the script was subpar, but I found it to be entertaining.
There's definetely a few things they leave hanging that may open the door for a sequel.
I might see the movie later. Not because Im interested in the plot, but I wouldnt mind some shiny eye candy play while I listen to the awesome Daft Punk
The movie was awesome. Definitely one of the best movies of the year, with only the colossal Inception beating it... barely. The graphics and effects were spectacular, and while the script was at times either confusing or cliche, it really worked and I was quite impressed with it overall. Unfortunately, my bro didn't want to see it in 3D, so I saw it in 2D, but I would definitely want to see it again to experience it in 3D. This is surely one of those movies that I'd want to see again and again, a thing that doesn't come often with movies these days.
If you want a movie of the year, go see Black Swan.

It's like, I just love a cowboy
You know
I'm just like, I just, I know, it's bad
But I'm just like
Can I just like, hang off the back of your horse
And can you go a little faster?!
Saw it in 3D, and was the first time I spent money on Disney in 16 years. Will be the last time to, as Disney really does ruin everything, including their own original work.

EDIT: Alright, I'll explain before I start a war. For a movie this silly, it took itself way too seriously. And when it wasn't busy being overly melodramatic, it was confusing. The writing was almost always terrible, the acting almost always uninspired, and the art style was, much to my befuddlement, somehow almost always boring. Also, CGI Jeff Bridges was just an all around bad idea. The technology just isn't there yet, and boy does it show.
