RR529

It's no surprise that Toonami is being relaunched (on Adult Swim) on May 26, 2012, but the only thing we don't know is what the final lineup is going to be. We know that Bleach, FMA: Brotherhood, and Cowboy Bebop are still in the lineup, but there are three mystery spots as well. My three most wanted shows:

InuYasha: the Final Act - while the series may not be Toonami alumni, the original InuYasha was one of AS's biggest animes, and has an extremely devoted fan base (a fact evidenced by the fact it has never been absent from AS's lineup, until May 26). Surely it wouldn't be a mistake to kickoff Toonami with the conclusion to the saga.

Tenchi Muyo! - It's only logical to assume that no classic Toonami shows will be brought back (they can't run entirely on nostalgia after all, and DBZ is Nicktoons territory), but I can't keep myself from mentioning one classic. I believe Tenchi Muyo! would be the best candidate because new episodes (in the form of the 3rd OVA) were made after the show stopped airing on Toonami, thus the show's addition here wouldn't be complete nostalgia.

Gundam 00 (or any other post-Toonami Gundam) - between Gundam Wing, G Gundam, Mobile Suit Gundam, Gundam SEED, and... SD Gundam, the Gundam series has an extensive history on Toonami. Adding a newer Gundam series would succeed in giving off a nostalgic vibe, all the while providing something new.

So, what shows do you want on the new Toonami?

Big O.

And Big O.

Also, Big O.

(Though i do/did prefer the original Toonami from when it first started — Thundercats, Robotech, Voltron, etc).

Theres no change to the program blocks CN goes from 6am to 9 pm and the call the block from 9 pm to 5:30 am Adult Swim instead of Cartoon Network. They are the same channel however kinda like Nickelodeon and Nick at Nite.

I came up with a list of really great, action-focused shows that I enjoyed (although most of them felt like better "fits" for the Adult-Swim-when-they-still-cared-about-anime brand than the Toonami brand, if that makes any sense), but then I realized that I'd prefer that they just air some good shows that I haven't seen before.

It looks like we're about to meet again, T.O.M.

Bleach/FMA:Brotherhood/Durarara!: to be fair. And consistency and stuff.
Cowboy Bebop/Big O/Trigun/Ghost in the Shell/FLCL: Old school is money, don't do all those series at once though. I want to watch these series as I haven't seen much of the first 4 and FLCL is amazing.
Inuyasha the Final Act: I honestly hate this series (or at least the original series), but it kinda makes too much sense.
New stuff: The only ones that come to mind are shonen though (Soul Eater). Non-shonen too...whatever those shows happen to be. Like I've only seen 3 anime from last year so I wouldn't know.

Correct. For Nielsen ratings (and convoluted business-world purposes), Adult Swim is considered a seperate network from CN; same as Nick at Nite/Nickelodeon.

Why do you all want old shows? I was with Toonami from the beggining (Reboot, DBZ, Gundam Wing, Thundercats, Ronin Warriors, Tenchi Muyo!, ect.), so I can understand your desire for the classics, but the fact is, if this thing's going to be successful, they're going to need to appease us long time fans AND bring something new to the table.

I'm sorry, but I don't see anymore than maybe one classic coming back, and I don't see it being Naruto, One Piece, Zatch Bell, or Bobobo. All of those shows (while good) were around when Toonami was ending, and from a business standpoint, I don't think they'd consider bringing back anything from Toonami's deathbed.

Also, DBZ/GT is Nicktoons territory now. I know it would be awesome to get it back full time for Toonami's return, but we have to be realistic here, and it doesn't look extremely likely.

I don't want people getting all POed and abandoning Toonami because it's not a complete nostagia fest (Bleach and FMA: Brotherhood should tell you that much). Just hope for a good lineup, that fits the Toonami mold, and every once in while pulls at the strings of nostalgia (like a new Gundam).

I agree with RR529.
If you want the old line-up, they're plenty of DVD's out right now for them to nostalgia over, no reason to wait until Toonami came back..
I really just hope this air's new anime coming out and is not just adult swim with Toonami promo's and the original bad voice-acting DBZ..

Finally someone else that realises that this is a MUST for the lineup. I honestly don't know why no one else is mentioning the thing. The original series has been on consistantly since the start of anime on AS, so it has to have some sort of large (or extremely loyal) fanbase, yet I'm the only one I've ever seen mention the series (and admit to liking it).
