I've never seen the cartoon, but the movie did look like it could be pretty good. When you watch a movie based on something else, you just have to forget what it's based on. There's seriously no way they could fit that much into a single movie. I still want to see it.
Watch the animated series first...PLEASE!

@Radixxs Oh, that looks, not good. Stuck in an elevator? And one is the devil? And every news story about it is the fact that it was laughed at and booed. So, not lookin good for that movie.

Why would I want to do that? If this movie is so apparently bad (which I doubt) why would I want to make it worse by seeing the cartoon first? And I've liked pretty much everything by M. Night Shadoobybooty. In fact, Sixth Sense is probably my least favorite film by him. My opinions tend to stray from critics and popular opinion quite often. That "Devil" movie also looks pretty interesting, I think.
"The Devil" actually looks as if will be a pretty decent movie. While I didn't personally care for "Sixth Sense", I L-O-V-E "Signs". It's a movie I can watch over and over again. The rest of the stuff he does...not so much.
We'll see The Last Airbender when it hits Netflix, but I'm not any more or less optimistic about it than I was about the Dragonball Z movie.

You would be surprised how bad this movie is, even without seeing the show first. I would only suggest watching it if you just want to see a movie that is hilariously bad(oh, and you should see the series afterwards. It's really good!).
Ok well even though everyone said the movie was bad I had to get it through Netflix today and well ummmm yeah ok I dont know how they could have messed it up but they did. The first scene the first scene was messed up they were suppose to be in a boat. And I why cant anyone pronounce there names right. Heck they cant even pronounce the word Avatar right. Glad I didnt waste my money on this in the theater. Hollywood seems to be on a reboot kick lately someone needs to reboot this.

I saw Inception on opening night... and when a preview about an elevator movie played and at the end read: A M. Night Shyamalan Film, everyone in the theatre laughed as if it were a comedy movie trailer.
Heh, a similar thing happened when I saw a movie that showed that preview. A chant of "F**k you, Shyamalan" chant started small and was going pretty strong by the end of the trailer. Good times.

I just finished up the anime on Netflix...What an amazing show. I am amazed that such a high quality and extremely engaging anime was produced here in the States.
Unfortunately, after Lady In The Water, I will never watch another M. Night film. Good thing the Avatar live-action movie is terrible.
(puts in DVD of The Last Airbender) (film starts) (two minutes after starting the film - )
Me:"Well, this is going to be a lovely piece of crap on action ecstasy."
Seriously, I love the cartoon shows way better. Anyone who hasn't watched the cartoons first and proceeds to watch the film is going to get the wrong impression.
I didn't even desire to see the film after having seen trailers of The Last Airbender. I'm sure Nickelodeon/ Paramount won't proceed to make another installment in the film saga. Let's face it. Some things weren't intended to be adapted into live action movies and Avatar The Last Airbender is one of those. The Smurfs and Yogi Bears movies also should't be made seeing as they're combining CGI with live action and it's all so very bad looking. Certain things just should't be done.
I pray we don't get live action One Piece, Ultimo, Voltron, Marine Boy or Heroman movies as certain things should't be adapted into live action films unless they've got a good brain behind such as Jerry Bruckheimer, Ted Elliott, Steven Spielberg, Bryan Singer, Stefen Fangmeier, Andrew Adamson, David Loren Cunningham, Peter Jackson, Guillermo Del Toro, Kenneth Branagh and Sam Raimi and not terrible movie makers like Michael Bay, The Wachowski Brothers, Louis Leterrier, Mark Steven Johnson and James Wong to only name a few of the bad ones.
That Dragon Ball Evolution was AN awful moive!

Not surprised but this movie seemed to walk away with every Razzie there is. Just in case you dont know what the Razzies are they are the opposite of the Oscars instead of for the best movies they are for the worst movies.
