I've never seen Bride of Frankenstin, so I was looking for it on youtube, just in case it was on there. Apparently, it's dangerous to go alone, and.... I found this SNL clip instead. And I'm going to keep watching different SNL Halloween clips

I miss Bill Hader on SNL. Jon Ham is good in this.

@Ninfan Definitely not. Wireless data, unless you've hit your limit and your service provider either slows down the data transfer speed or turns it off completely, is faster.

@Heavyarms55 Yes! One of the first sites I'd visit back then (and still habitually do visit) was Serebii, and I recall watching the images, starting with the site banner, slowly load. When we first got broadband (the same basic connection my parents still have, BTW), I was surprised (then) at how much faster it was. I could watch videos without having to wander off and watch them buffer! Pictures wouldn't load with the speed of molasses!

@BruceCM Hence why I had to ask permission! We only had one phone line. Getting another was more than my parents were willing to spend. Other than my mother for basic email checking and web browsing, I was the only one at the time who would use the computer on occasion. Our first machine was a Windows '95, then an XP that lasted almost a decade.

We had Windows 3 for the 1st tower, @Tyranexx .... Then, 95 & after that they went onto laptops, with XP

@BruceCM The '95 was my first experience with a computer. Though I've dealt with a couple of even older ones since. The elementary school I went to had an old Apple computer (No clue what version) that you could play edutainment games on. And I messed around with an emulated version of Windows 1.0 in a college class.

@Tyranexx We had a Windows 95 computer as well (it was an IBM Aptiva), I was around 5 when we first got it. That was the first computer I ever used. We had some games for it too (besides built-in stuff like Solitaire). I remember we had a floppy disk that had Namco arcade games like Pac-Man, Galaxian, and Dig Dug. (I'm sure there was a fourth title, but it's escaping me. lol)

I also used those old Apple computers wayyyyy back in my elementary school days (and of course, they also had edutainment games), and just like you I have no clue what model it was. (Pretty sure it wasn't a Macintosh.) I do remember a power switch that you could flick, it would turn on right away and immediately load whichever software's inside. So it wasn't one of those computers that would begin loading the GUI and desktop like on Windows and Mac. The only colors were black and green, too. That was the oldest computer I remember using, the second oldest being a computer that had Windows 3.11.

So, my boxes that I shipped from Japan to the US finally arrived. Thankfully without issue. So in the end, most everything made the trip without damage. A couple gunpla had some detail problems but mostly? Almost all of my CD cases now have cracks or are just missing chunks. Never realized how brittle those older jewel cases were. Thankfully all the CDs themselves seem fine.

@Tyranexx Oh yeah. I wish I had known about Serebii back then. I only learned of it around the DS era. But yeah, I imagine it was like that.

@BruceCM Yeah, my dad worked at Ford and was getting lots of overtime, so he paid for a second phone line just for AOL dialup. XD

@MarioLover92 I don't recall what type of machine the Windows 95 was on. I was around the same age when it arrived in the house lol. I don't recall playing a lot on it other than I'd beg my mom to play the original Oregon Trail since I couldn't read what was going on. Solitaire surfaced on occasion too. I vaguely remember a Flintstones edutainment game and had a couple of those interactive Disney movie games (101 Dalmatians and The Lion King) that popped up during the 90s as well.

That old Apple machine was the only time I recall needing to use floppy disks fof anything. Like your experience, there was no home screen; it would just immediately load the games one was playing. I can't for the life of me recall what they were though. XD I think there were more colors besides black and green, but the graphics were reminiscent of the Atari 2600. It's definitely the oldest computer I've used in person.

@Heavyarms55 I ran across Serebii back when I was digging for more Pokemon info sometime after Pokemon Emerald came out, so late GBA/early DS era. I checked online several times a week once the Gen 4 games were confirmed, obsessing over every confirmed Pokemon as D/P rolled closer. Heck, I still recall some of the Romanized Japanese names of some Pokemon then; Gible/Fukamaru, Mismagius/Mumajii, Diaruga/Dialga, Parukia/Palkia, etc. That's how obsessed I was.

Glad just about all your stuff survived the shipping process with few blemishes. I gotta ask, what is a gunpla?

@Tyranexx Oh lol. Gunpla is what Japanese fans call plastic Gundam model kits. Japan loves to shorten names. Gunpla is as big or arguably bigger than model cars or trains in the US. Model building is a very popular hobby there. Not only Gunpla, but planes, trains, cars, military vehicles, even humanlike characters.

First time I walked into a Japanese hobby store it blew my mind and I blew several hundred dollars. XD

So I decided to revisit Xenoblade Chronicles 2. It's been a couple years now, since I finished my original playthrough when it was new. But also, now all the DLC is out now. Meaning I can enjoy all that additional content throughout the game instead of going back for it at way too high of a level. And what do you know? I got T-elos right out the gate! She wasn't added in the game at all, even by the point that I finished it. The wiki says she's actually pretty low rarity, but no complaints!

@BruceCM Sounds like you've been around the block a few more times than me, friend. Lol.

@Heavyarms55
I don't know which wiki you got that information from, but T-elos isn't rare at all. In fact, it has a much higher drop rate than any other Rare blade, you just need to finish the main story before it drops.
Do you have KOS-MOS yet? That's the rarest Blade of all.

Glad you're giving the game another go by the way.

Maybe, @Heavyarms55 .... It also depended where you lived but I grew up in a nice village, not the city! While my area of England is usually a bit behind most of the rest in technological ways, as well It was a good place in plenty of ways, though! Even now, the broadband at my parents is very slow but there's not really a choice of provider there
Whereas around the city, there's all the different ones & fibre-optic cables everywhere, so you'd think they lived hours away, not half an hour's drive

@Rexenoboy I had her in my first playthrough. I had every blade released at that time.

@BruceCM It is so dirty when you only have one choice of provider...

I noticed there was a weird company logo engraved on my ipod, and turns out it apparently means it was made in Brazil.

How odd, considering they shipped it from China! It's a well-traveled unit I guess.

Didn't know they made them in different countries.

Cool, got one shiny meowth in today's research event in pokemon go. Did ya guys do these tasks?

I did a few of them, but no shinies. Which was fine as I already hatched a shiny Alolan Meowth a while back. Would have liked a shiny Kantonian one though lol.

@Heavyarms55 That actually sounds really cool! I never got into Gundam, but I do understand the appeal of assembling something cool with your own hands! I channel that with LEGOs on occasion, though it's been awhile since I've bought a set lol.

@BruceCM ...Wow, I'd say you have me beaten on oldest machine used! I've tried some things out via emulation including a gutted Atari 2600 loaded with a Raspberry Pi, but that still wasn't technically original lol.

As a console gamer, this announcement made me scratch my head in confusion. Uppers will be released exclusively for Steam. The PS4 version has been cancelled. Probably no chance for a Switch release either at this point.

@Tyranexx Ah okay, so they had like larger pixels and stuff. Sounds a bit more advanced than the one I used, lol. The one I remember using was probably an Apple II. And speaking of Atari, we had that arcade hits disc for Win95/98 way back in the day, I played that quite a lot back then. There was also this game called Incredible Machine that I played back when I was in school, it was just fun to mess around in while I had free time to spare. lol

@Tyranexx I really enjoy Lego too. But it takes up so much space, it's been years since I've really been able to do much with them.

@Heavyarms55 I went though a lego phase years ago and bought a whole bunch of adult sets to display. It’s fun for a while, but get’s pretty boring. That was also during the time when legos were actually worth the money, and not a dollar per brick.
