Kryptonite isn't Superman's only weakness. He is vulnerable to magic, all kinds of telepathy, hypnosis, the Red Sun. Besides there's a lot of villains that are stronger then him. Doomsday, Darkseid, Brianiac, Ultraman to name a few obvious ones. That an he's emotions, if they give him a choice between saving one life and the world, he will try to do both.
Superman could kill Luthor, throw him in the Sun, throw him off in space. He can, but he won't. He does things by the law, his morals are through the roof. Also Superman isn't a mindless idiot, he has a brain far evolved then any human on Earth. Though that shows you the power or the writer. When ever Batman makes an appearance they have to dumb him down a bit. Luthor is still very cunning, and a power, power man. The thing about Luthor is, he tries to do good. He sees himself as the hero, defending Earth from this powerful alien that could destroy the world. Lex Luthor has accomplished a lot but he thinks no one noticed because of Superman. In the latest animated film, All-Star Superman there's a scene where he is talking to Clark, showing off his muscles, he said something like, "These were made from hard work, not giving to!" Then he got mad and threw the barbell in anger saying he was over shadowed. Luthor could have still made a great hero, but you know how it goes.
I even remember in the ABC Lois and Clark they killed Lex Luthor at the end of the first season (in truth it was because the actor and the director had a fight and didnt want to bring in another actor since they already did that with the part of Jimmy Olsen) only to bring him back in the third season as a clone.

I shall be ignoring it, as I did the last reboot. I shall also ignore the new Spiderman. It's pathetic that studios resort to the same old 5h1t instead of creating something new. When you look at the world, it's kind of sickening that they keep throwing money at stories everyone has heard before and are tired of.
There new stuff being created everyday, just because someones makes a remake or something doesn't mean they aren't making anything else. Besides when you write a script for a reboot or remake, sometimes it's an original take of it. It's not always a direct copy of the old version.

The reason Hollywood keeps creating reboots is because the new IP's just don't catch on the way classic content has due to the fact that the majority of new movies are either lame (300, Sucker Punch, The Last Airbender) while others simply lack creativity (Borat, Mars Needs Moms) while still others are just godless and brainless or even in some cases immoral (Rango, Zombieland, American Pie, Juno).
And yet I think that we still get movies. For example, Hollywood has been making some SPECTACULAR movies lately as we've had James Cameron's Avatar, How To Train Your Dragon, The Twilight Saga, Pirates of the Caribbean, Wall-E, Tangled, the X-Men Trilogy, the Spider Man trilogy and so on and so forth.

Ok 300 was lame but the Twilight Saga was good. Boy are you wrong there 300 was a good movie and Twilight was poo.
Did you honestly just say a badly acted, badly written movie based on the worst mainstream book of the last 4.5 billion years of the Earth's existence is spectacular? While keeping a straight face?
LOL @ calling Juno "godless, brainless and inmmoral" and then raving on Twilight. To quote Jeff Winger: "Well Shirley, since you have clearly failed to grasp the central insipid metaphor of those Twilight books you devour, let me explain it to you! Men are monsters who crave young flesh!"
Also, Avatar was mediocre. But hey to each his/her own huh. I'm sure glad I can't give "godless" as a reason to hate a film cause I'd hate all good films.
At this point I dont know who I would cast for Jor-El still Man of Steel is getting quite the star treatment but I wouldnt expect anything less from Chris Nolan.

Personal I would have liked to see Viggo Mortenson as Zod but thats cause I dont know this actor to well. Oh well we shall see how it turns out.
That news gets a giant meh from me. We have already had zod in the Richard Donner Films and in smallville. Were's braniac or Parasite.
Zack snyder did 300 and watchmen which are really good comic book adaptions (watchmen is pretty much the book frame for frame). whats with all the Lex Luthor hate?
WAT!

THe thing is other than Lex Luthor Zod is one of the better known villains from Superman lore. The thing with Nolan though if he has any say in Man of Steel I am sure he will use some of the lesser known villains like he did in his Batman trilogy.

Now dont get me wrong I am not racist so please dont take it that way but I just cant stand when they take a well known part and change it, like they did with Nick Fury in the latest Marvel Movies. If the part calls for a white guy it should be a white guy. That would be like casting some fat white dude for Fat Albert. Come on people is following the comics such a bad thing?

Casting a man because he was good for the part, not because he was white. Sticking to the comics isn't something that can be said here. DC comics have a lot of changes, there's no one canon comic series. Unless you want to go to the very first Action Comics where Superman couldn't fly and Lex Luthor had hair.
The only true Superman was Christopher Reeve. Nobody played the role like him.
As for a black Perry white. That's just wrong. As said before this isn't a race thing. Imagine a white guy as Spawn. That wouldn't be right either. What are they gonna do next cast a man as Wonder woman?
