So, my 3DS has had a couple of stickers on it for a while now, and recently I've decided to remove them. I already peeled them off and, as expected, there was some leftover gunk still on my system. I've tried to clean it with some water and washcloth and all that did was smear the residue around my system. I know either rubbing alcohol or Goo Gone can take care of this sort of thing, but I don't have either on me at the moment and I'm open to suggestions. Is one better than the other, or is there a much better option?

@N00BiSH Removing sticker residue can be a tough job that requires the right tool for that job.
One way to remove vinyl stickers thoroughly is to use a hair dryer to heat up the sticker enough, so that it won't leave sticker residue behind as you slowly pull it up. Or this can greatly minimize sticker residue.(but you've already removed your sticker. ( This is just a heads up to try to avoid/minimize sticker residue in the future.)
So, you already pulled the stickers off. You definitely need the help of a cleaner. A citrus based sticker residue remover, like Goo Gone, is my first choice, because it's effective an maybe the most safe to use on the outside of your 3ds. Alcohol could work ok?
Simple Green might help? I think Simple Green is a citrus cleaner? But I don't think it's as effective as Goo Gone.
Stronger, riskier stuff:
WD40 will work, but will also leave behind a slippery lubrication and a smell, which will require another cleaning to remove the WD40. I personally would avoid WD40 because it's a lubricant, not a purposeful cleaner.
Goof Off paint remover would work, but that stuff is strong, and I'm worried that could harm the finish on the 3ds. Nail polish remover is probably a similar product, but I don't know how it compares to Goof Off.
Side note: I suspect @N00BiSH's sticker residue may be a tough scenario that can't be solved with tape or another sticker to try and pull the residue off.
You can try Isopropyl alcohol 96%. Cause I was able to get rid of all that sticky crud off my 2DS just a few minutes ago. Just make sure you use just a dab & a cloth.
