WARNING: SPOILERS AHOY

What are some of the saddest moments you've ever experienced in games (either in or out of game). And I mean sad like crying sad, not sad like pathetic sad.

I shed a tear in Cave Story when Curly died (if you didn't get the Tow Cable, of course). My friend was sitting next to me and said I was a wimp, and I felt like punching him in the face.

The end of Crisis Core Final Fantasy VII. Sad. as. hell.

Currently playing: Tales of Symhonia (again), Tales of the Abyss 3DS, Fire Emlblem Fates, Majora's Mask 3D and Xenoblade Chronicles X.

I have quite a few! SPOILER ALERT!

Klonoa: This game has two sad moments that I can think of. The first was when Klonoa's grandfather as killed. The second (and most infamous) was when Klonoa learns that Phantomville was just a part of a dream. To make matters worse, he had to be separated from Hewpoe forever to save this figment of his imagination.

Elite Beat Agents: This game is very goofy, but the Christmas episode always makes me burst into tears. Seeing a little girl lose her father before Christmas and cope with the changes and hardships of a death makes me misty-eyed whenever I hear You're the Inspiration.

Professor Layton and the Unwound Future: The end was just as sad as Klonoa, maybe even sadder! We learn that Celise is really Claire who was blasted 10 years into the future after a time machine malfunction. She confronts Professor Layton one last time, telling him that she needs to return to her time and pass away so that the future won't be ruined. This, of course, leaves Layton crushed. On top of that, Luke's father gets a job transfer, forcing him to leave Layton, too. Poor Hershel...

I'm back (for the moment)!

Metal Gear Solid 2. When E.E. gets stabbed by Vamp and later dies. Otacon was being a bit over dramatic about it but still that was really sad. Especially when her parakeet started saying I love you to Otacon as if it was E.E.'s spirit speaking through the bird.

Oh I also remember getting choked up on Nes Ninja Gaiden 2 when I thought Irene had died. That was probably the first videogame that I ever got emotional over.

When I was younger the end of Sonic Adventure 2 made me bawl my eyes out, but now I find it hilarious.

Every freaking minute of Fragile Dreams. That game is depressing (but amazing!).

The end of Shadow of the Colossus.

I second Klonoa's ending.

Mother 3's opening and ending chapters had me in tears.

I shed a tear whenever I see that huge mountain of trash in Rabbids Go Home. There's just too much junk.

...in my pants.

(SPOILER ALERTS for Final Fantasy X & Heart of the Alien)
Final Fantasy X. The entire ending was so emotionally powerful, beginning with the final battles all the way to the end credits. I mean, Tidus having to take on his father and the emotional dialogue after, Yuna having to destroy the very Aeons she'd been summoning to help her (and the PAINED look on her face after one is beaten). It's a tear jerker before you even fight the final boss. And then the ending itself. Auron. Yuna and Tidus. Tidus and Jecht's Mission Accomplished "low-five" in the Heavens. I was bawling like a little girl LOL. FF VII, VIII and IX were emotional too, but not on the level of FF X. Sad in a very satisfying way!

Then, there's the other end of the spectrum. BAD, BAD sad. In another franchise altogether, Heart of the Alien, sequel to Out of this World. Watched the ending on YouTube out of curiosity. REALLY wish I hadn't done that. That was just troubling. Deeply morbid, sad, troubling, depressing bleeping ending that left me with disturbing thoughts and dreams about cremation. Need a psychiatrist and some Prozac thinking about it! I'd not recommend anybody see it lest they enjoy morbid, depressing endings that leave you with a very bad taste. I think the game's creators should be ashamed of themselves. Apparently not. In Heart of Darkness (not a sequel... they ruined all possibility of an Out of this World sequel when they cremated the electrocuted Lester THEN crushed his bones to top it off), they have utterly gruesome in-game deaths for a CHILD (like the sound of a monster snapping his spine and carrying his limp body off) you play as! Sick, sick people.

The part in Okami when Issun leaves Ameterasu behind. It's sad in more ways than one. First off, Issun admits that he was just traveling with Ameterasu to obtain all of the brush powers. Then, Waka taunts Issun into entering the Ark of Yamato and Issun finds out that even he had wanted to enter, he couldn't. Poor Issun...he probably felt bad enough revealing his true nature to Ammy, then he finds out he's not even worthy enough to enter the ark. His self-esteem must've been crushed.

If you think New Super Mario Bros. Wii is hard, try Super Mario Bros. 3.

The end of Pokemon Black and White when you go to N's room. Then when he says goodbye to you before he jumps out of the hole in the castle and that song from Mother 3 plays.

the end of the legend of zelda twilight princess where minda destroys the mirror of twilight forever cutting here off from link and zelda. made me choke up.

All the children try to run,
To him its part of the fun.
His branching arms are for collecting,
His face is empty of expressing.
He sometimes hums a lowly drone,
He will wander 'round your home.
Dressed in darkest suit and tie,
He won't let you say goodbye.

**SPOILER WARNING**
Professor Layton and the Unwound Future was by far the saddest game I've ever played. When Claire left Layton in the future to return to the past to die and Layton took his hat off (for the first time EVER) and looked to the sky with tears in his eyes. It really made the professor feel human. I've never felt for a fictional character more then I felt for poor Layton.

9 Hours, 9 Persons, 9 Doors was also a fairly sad game in 5 out of the 6 endings. In the real ending it is less sad because nothing bad happens to anyone. It IS extremely touching though.
