@skywake Haha, yeah, saw that in the description of his "reasons for not" video, after I posted it...
EDIT:
In all honesty, though: his pro PC reasons are FAR inferior to why you shouldn't build/buy a gaming PC. That video had more hard facts and actual considerations, instead of "VR is cool" and there being a lot of "how to build your gaming PC" videos on YouTube.

Personally, I wouldn't even need such a video, so that would never be a pro PC reason for me.

@6ch6ris6 I don't want to do so. I'm just letting you know! I was curious myself too, since I hadn't heard of a PC port. However, considering the game's running on one of Sony's engines, and since they are publishing the game, the chances are slim. Though to be fair, I believe they also published No Man's Sky, and that game was released on PC as well. It could go either way.

To be fair to the counter argument the only one of his negative points I think really makes an impact is the one about prices currently. Which mostly applies to GPU pricing and in particular AMD cards. The point about RAM prices is also fair but these days RAM is a pretty small proportion of a PC build cost anyway. And in both cases you have to also consider the drop in prices for other components like SSDs. The only reason these aren't an issue for console gamers because consoles hardware pricing remains fairly static. But they aren't charities, Sony Microsoft and Nintendo take these variations in cost into account when setting their prices.

The other two points I don't think really apply to this thread discussion. There not being a great range of options for Intel motherboards for the high end? Well sure, but most games aren't CPU bottlenecked anyway. You can easily get away with a "last gen" CPU and AMD actually has some decent options now. NVidia GSync costing a bundle? Well sure, that's pretty average but at least it is an option. There are no options for variable refresh rates on XBOne, PS4 or Switch. Some higher spec options being average for PC gamers right now isn't a negative when console gamers don't even have those options available to them.

I'm NOT a PC Gamers anymore.
I did ever played The Sims 3 PC back on year 2012 ago.
But, Now, i burried my dreams about PC Gaming, Continue my Gaming with Consoles and Handhelds.
The Reason why i Left from PC gaming are.... The INSTALLATION, The Incompatible Hardware with specific games and Online Registering. I don't like to be Streessed out by thinking about upgrading the CPU, Motherboard, etc. I prefer buy a Simple machines like Consoles or Handhelds without Worrying about the specs. I just only buy it and play it without waiting for Installation and another complicated activities just only want to play a Single game.

Sorry, i choose to withdraw from PC World because i Don't like also with the Stereotype of PC Gaming. Thanks for explaining about something else from PC Gaming, but i had Move On from PC Gaming. My gaming times just ONLY Handhelds and Consoles. I found they are Feel Much Better than PC Gaming. Once again, I DON'T Care with PC Specs. I'm Content with Handhelds or Consoles specs despite weaker than PC. Who cares with PC Power ?? I'm not Convinced anymore.

And One more thing.
Since i live in Indonesia, the country with TONS of Pirated games including PC games, there is Almost NO Chances for me to buy and build Original PC Gaming. If i want to order Original PC games, i have to order from Ebay or Playasia, but once again, my attentions are for Handhelds or Consoles right now. I say Goodbye to All PC Gaming World. They DON'T Exist anymore in my Heart.

To this day i don't know why people try to put some sense into you. Or better yet try to have a conversation. You just disregard everything the other guy says while repeating yourself.

You made three very specific claims that I countered none of which you mentioned in your latest post. The first point was in response to you saying that PCs are bulky and consume a lot of power. That in comparison consoles were less bulky and more portable. To which I linked to an article about a fairly decent spec PC from CES which rivals the XBOne for specs but is physically smaller than the original Wii.

The closest thing you've come to responding to that in your latest post is to say that you don't like having to worry about what CPU you should get. Did you not notice that everything I linked to was a pre-built system of some kind? Did you read the post I made or did you just want to rattle off with a bunch of further points in the hopes that nobody would notice that you made a fool of yourself earlier?

I have ever saw Mini DELL PC.
Yes, it was as Big as Wii console or even smaller than Wii. Not bulky.
But, i prefer Laptop than PC for Portability and more color choices (I prefer White
/ Blue color)
I can use my Laptop for my Working Tasks from school, printing documents, designing my drawings, but not for playing games.
But.... Actually.... there is ONLY One game that i want to play and i can Install on it Easily. Just only.... StepMania, DDR Simulator & Maker. With that program, i can play All Dance Dance Revolution songs on 1 Laptop. The Simfiles (DDR Songs + Stepcharts) can be downloaded for Free from website. I can choose any songs i want to play.

Anyway, thanks for the Videos, but my attentions are still on Handhelds or Consoles. Whenever i'm thinking about upcoming games, i ALWAYS Thinking Upcoming Nintendo games, Never thinking about upcoming PC games. PC games Will Never attract me whatsoever.

Here's my 2 cents,
Do you feel like you are missing something with your current video game situation that you need to introduce one of those two gaming systems?
What kind of library do you have for each system? I know I have a ton of Steam, GOG, and Hubble games that I rarely play. My PC is not that powerful at all, but I am a sucker for when a game I might like goes on a big discount.
So for that reason alone, I would pick the PC route. But I also, do not buy the latest and greatest games so a powerful PC for me is very secondary. I know my way around PC's enough, but that being said, I play the vast majority of games on a console.
Even though the X1X really looks very nice, I have never been in the Xbox universe. So any Xbox for me would be totally starting from scratch.
It is always hard to give people advice on something like this. It is very subjective and everyone's gaming needs and wants are just so different.
I have been perfectly happy with my retro stuff, my Wii U, and the few PC games I want to play. I most likely will never get a PS4 or X1 of any kind. I do have a Switch, and I am sure that will turn out just fine.
But as you are aware, my video game landscape has changed drastically since my son passed away. So who knows where I will be.

If it was me and money was no object and I had the time and want to do a little tinkering, only because I have access to a larger library of games on the PC, that is the direction I would go. PC have come a long way from the 90's and early 2000's. I also have one extremely niche restriction that I put on myself, but that is really just me being hardheaded.
But if you have access to a larger library of game in the Xbox universe that you enjoy, and you do not want to be bothered with anything other than plug and play, then I would take the Xbox.
The PC will give you lots and lots of freedom, but sometimes that freedoms requires a little work to get it set up just the way you want. With the X1X, someone else sets it all up, I just hope I like what they did.

So I guess that is really not answer, but in short (I know too late) whatever library of games is larger.

@skywake I just put that guy on ignore a long time ago and my NintendoLife experience is much better for it. He talks in absolute circles and at first I wonder if he was being serious about what he says, then I realize he is beyond serious. I have never had a conversation with a person that has such narrow niche tastes in video games and expects every one to understand his very, very narrow mindset. I gave up.

@Hikingguy
Hi.
Long time no see.
Here are my deep thought about my mindset about gaming.
1.Should i use PC for playing Traditional games such as NDS or GBA or 3DS ? No. I can play them with their machines. Playing them on PC for me it just wasting the electricity and that's not a proper way to play especially NDS games.
2. Should i play PC games if the specific titles also on consoles or handhelds ? NO, Because i don't need to Install the game nor worrying about the specs inside formy Console ir Handheld version. Just insert the Disc or Cartridges, Loaded for a while, Play time. Easy peasy.
3. There are Tons of Cheap Steam games, why don't buy them ? The Answer is.... NOT Interested. I'm Not Interested with Digital Download Only games regardless of their cheap prices. I want the games Physical. The console or handheld version will always be my choices considering they are very easy to be obtained, just insert the things inside the machine and play them immediately.
4. Why don't you upgrade your PC with better specs ? I havo No Longer interest upgrading my PC. My PC recently still No VGA Card for gaming purpose after m PC had ever broken, my VGA card also damaged.
5. PC is more efficient than having multiple consoles, why don't you try PC Gaming ? The Answer is.... Because i LOVE Playing games in BOTH Consoles and Handhelds. Maybe it cost more money than having them all in one PC , But again, did you know what games that i'm looking for ? The games that looking for Mostly on Handhelds or Consoles, not on PC. So, because my Love and Loyalty are So Big, i will pay more for Handhelds or Consoles rather than on PC.
I'm very Conservative on some matters, i'm an Old School boy for gaming mostly.
Don't get bored with me. I'm sure we can have some good conversations here despite of my Narrow Minded Niche gaming taste.
I'm Conservative but has Big Loyalty also.

You need to learn the difference between personal opinions and facts. I have absolutely zero issue with you saying that you're not into PC gaming for one reason or another. Just don't go on long rants spouting nonsense as if it was true and ignoring everyone who corrects you. Especially when your next post contains even more nonsense.

Also, if you really do want to rain on everyone's parade who is enjoying their own gaming PCs? At least make good points for why PC gaming isn't as good. Don't spout cliches that everyone who does have a PC know are BS. For example you have said that PCs are bulky, overpriced, ugly, power hungry, difficult to setup, hard to buy software for and "less authentic". All of which everyone who has a gaming PC in this forum is laughing at.

If you had instead said that the XBOne S and PS4 are decent value machines for 1080p gaming in the living room? You'd be getting somewhere. Or that for HDR content and 4K BluRays that the XBOne S/X actually do the trick unlike with PCs currently? Or that the PS4 has a bunch of exclusives that some people might prefer over the exclusives that exist on PC? Then sure. You would have had a decent argument.

But no, you keep talking about how much power these machines are drawing from the wall and how installs and patches on PC are a pain. Ignoring the fact that consoles are just as bad.....

Haruki_NLI

@Octane So PC Vs PC?

Seriously though, it depends on what you are willing to spend. PC part prices are almost double MSRP right now, especially GPUs and RAM. That alone will cost as much as an Xbox One X if you want 4K gaming, if not much more.

Secondly, if it's a games debate, it actually comes back to price. How much are you willing to spend on the hardware to play the games, since the entire Xbox library overlaps via the Windows Store.

This really is a debate about your lifestyle, living space, needs, and disposable income.

Psst...
I have ever played The Sims 3 PC on year 2012 for 1 year before my PC broken on year 2013, lost all my datas. After my PC repaired, i continue again that games for several months before i got trouble again with my PC on year 2014.

Since then, i Quit from PC gaming. That was enough for me. I will not forget my experiences could play The Sims 3 PC even for not long time, but i choose to Move On.

And about "Eight Ways to punish PC" ?
Eh... i will not start the debates.
Eight is too many.

Oh, yes. I'm still "Old School" gamer for some games.

I'm not really smart in deep conversations and manage my words' quality.
Especially with English as my Secondary language, i have difficulty to understand some of your informations.
I had read your replies, but still i had some of my opinions.
Maybe i hadn't think about the fact yet since i'm Not a Technology geek, my comments was still lack of that proper informations.
So tried to use my opinions as i knew and peoples still called me a Nonsense. Oh, dear...

Oh, about my rants toward PC gaming, the reason why i talked about my Loyalty toward Handhelds and Consoles, because they can deliver also Same Contents. Both Nintendo Switch and PS4 can deliver SAME 1080p, SAME Gameplay, SAME Titles. So, if i have to choose between PC, PS4 & Nintendo Switch for Same Titles i will definetely choose the Switch or PS4 version since they are Easy to buy in my country Indonesia. I can order that games from local game shop but NOBODY wants to order Original PC games in my country unless if asked my friend to order from Ebay or Playasia. That's my Fact, i have Though situation that maybe someone will laughed at me and called it a BS. Laughed at me but That's my Real Situation. My country Indonesia is NOT an Original PC Gaming Paradise as your country maybe. My country Indonesia is a Pirated games paradise, i feel ashamed to admit it.

Talking about Exclusiveness, did you even know what games that i'm looking for ?
My games choices are mostly from consoles or handhelds Only because the titles from their machines are MORE Atrractive than PC has. If there are some games also on PC as well (like LEGO games, Portal Knights, FF XII, etc) , i will never choose PC version since i still can get the SAME Contents from PC maybe with a little bit downgrades, Except for The Sims cases.

For The Sims games, the console or handheld version are the Watered down version (on PS2, Gamecube, Xbox, NDS, GBA, 3DS, PSP, PS3, Xbox 360, Wii). They don't have Same contents exactly from PC, i could say they are like a Completely different games. So, in this case i still choose the Watered down version because i still can play them immediately even i have to sacrifice some contents from PC version. For The Sims 4 consoles, they delivered SAME Contents as PC except they lacked of Custom Contents and Hacked things. If the games i found deliver SAME Contents as PC, I don't have to buy the PC version since the PC games on my country just Only available in Pirated copies 99.99%. With that Though situation, definetely drives me to consider the Handheld or Console version rather than PC version. I Have NO Choice.

And i had ever heard comments about PC or Steam games prices, they had ever said to me if Steam or PC games cheaper to buy, why choosing console or handheld version which is more expensive than PC or Steam games (Especially when Steam games got Discount ) ? So, my answer like this:
Because i like them to be played in handheld or console machines due to their merit. Handhelds are very Versatile due to his Portability while console has their merit by Easy and Fast Boot Up the machine before playing. Because i see their merit like that, i definetely choose both of them for my gaming time. PC has their own merit also, but their merit is Not matched with i 'm Expecting about, didn't have Same Chemistry with i'm expecting from PC gaming. Because i didn't find anymore a Chemistry between me and PC gaming, i choose to ignore and withdraw from PC gaming. So i don't need to waste my time for thinking about upgrading my PC with better specs since i have No desire anymore about PC gaming.

Once again, i tried to explain to you with All my knowledge so far. So if my reply is still a Nonsense, i dunno how i am supposed to say with Right comments.

Help me with proper English sentences.

@skywake The video is (obviously) PC only. I think the point of variable refresh rates is mentioned specifically because it's more about getting the best performance out of your rig if you choose PC gaming, not so much a thing about consoles not having that anyways and it thus not being a valid point since he isn't comparing to consoles in the video.

If you choose to ignore that point when gaming on a PC, then you have to take into account the downsides of it, and I would assume that if @NEStalgia decides to choose PC gaming, against better judgment, then he most certainly has to weigh that point also. And in comparison, all 4 points against PC gaming definitely hold more weight and are more worthwhile considering than the 4 points in favor of PC gaming, there's no getting around that by any means of twisting words or taking things out of context.

@Anti-Matter So basically it boils down to you don't understand the PC market and won't have anything to do with it for that reason? Also, is electricity really that expensive in Indonesia so much so that owning a PC can break a person?

Also,
Most PC gaming is 1080p, 4K is still a very small market
You can build/buy small form factor PC's even for gaming
PC gaming doesn't have to be expensive
Buy games digital, like Steam, so you don't have to deal with pirated copies
Always upgrading isn't really a thing, it's a thing people say if they don't have knowledge on PC's

But, I think this is useless just like I've seen before. @MsJubilee is right.
