That's just the U.S. If we approximate worldwide sales around 500K, and add another 200-300K for December, it's just 1M offbase. And that's being conservative.

Couple things people won't take away from this but they should
1) Everyone looks at metacritic, everyone. Know how people say 'yeah but nobody cares about metacritic'? Yeah they are wrong. It's important for developers, publishers, analysts, corporate executives, potato farmers, the UPS man that delivers your packages, that guy your girlfriend is cheating on you with, EVERYONE.
2) Momentum is more important than current sales. Microsoft had the early momentum last generation and Sony eventually outsold them, the reversal could easily happen this generation.
3) Nintendo has launched it's heavy hitters and its momentum did not rise significantly enough. Mario Kart and Smash Bros needed a bigger splash to have a positive outlook on the Wii U's future. Instead, those little amibus have seemingly done more than anything. They may need to ride that train or come up with an alternative method to push consoles now that they have played their MK and SSB cards without much success.
4) Play your games dammit and stop fretting over sales numbers

But I, and many other people find sales numbers interesting. If I get some time, I might even set up a "Fantasy console wars" on this forum (any idea for how it should work are welcome)
Fair play to MS, they've really turned things around since Spencer got the big job. Beating PS4 this month was kind of expected, but the actual amount of consoles sold is a big surprise. Absolutely smashes the previous highest selling 2nd November by quite a bit. Great to see PS4 keeping up its high numbers too. I just wish Wii U could have hit 500k and given a bit of hope for breaking 1 million in December.
