Haven't played much since the end of the Toybox, and yes TTYD is 1000x's better than PM.
QUEEN OF SASS
It's like, I just love a cowboy
You know
I'm just like, I just, I know, it's bad
But I'm just like
Can I just like, hang off the back of your horse
And can you go a little faster?!
I've never played TTYD but I've heard good things about it. Is the general consensus that it's better than the original Paper Mario?
Spoiler. Ish. Well, more teaser. Yus, it's much better than the original. Which is saying something. The battles are a real treat - you've got a live audience now. Alongside the usual action commands, you can perform tricks at specific points in your attack (like pressing A again just after bouncing off an enemy will make Mario spin in the air) to send the audience wild and massively boost your star meter. Star powers have action commands too. And the storyline is fantastic - one chapter has you leading a horde of Pikmin-esque creatures, whilst another has you solving the mysterious goings on in a glamorous fight club (whilst fighting for the belt yourself). Try to track down a copy, it's awesome.
Anyway, yay! Finished Paper Mario! Finally, had that game on my SD card for about two years. Finished with 45HP/40FP/30BP (Lv20-something, none of those stats boosted by the Plus badges). I kinda blasted through the last few chapters, got aaaaaaall my deadlines this week so figured I'd get it out of the way so it doesn't prove a distraction xD
As I said, I've only played some of TTYD, but what I did play was quite good. It's just yet another instance of me having no real reason for not having finished a game...there's a few too many of those for my tastes, but I stink as rectifying the situations.
Anyway, I just finished Chapter 6. It's easily the shortest chapter in the game, which doesn't hurt.

Also, gonna be playing some more tonight or tomorrow.
SPOILERS
TTYD is a fantastic game but I prefer the original and SMRPG. The only thing it has that's better than the other two is the ability to keep playing once you've beaten the game.
END SPOILERS

It's OK to have an opinion. This ain't the Soviet Union you know. Letterboxd Youtube Channel
Just started chapter 7. I randomly decided to enter a house, and before I knew it I was all caught up in the big Penguin Murder Mystery. As a suspect and everything. But seriously, a penguin murder mystery? This game is brilliant!
@Raylax: I'm strongly considering doing the same, especially since I've never played through the vast majority of TTYD (got partway through Chapter 2, as I recall). If the Club doesn't officially move on to that one (which it most likely won't), we should start our own discussion thread for it.
There's something similar here TTYD is definitley better, but both are great.
Crud... now I gotta go beat the first paper mario so I can join in on this conversation. And finish up SPM. TTYD was the best though. I can only hope that PM3DS will top it.

I just finished off Chapter 5. Man that last boss was hard! I died like 5 times. But after I leveled up and got a better badge system going with a few Super Shrooms to help I finished him off easily enough.
**SPOILERS*** The part where he fake dies was quite a nice touch. It nearly fooled me but the fight was too short and something just wasn't quite right for it to be over and sure enough, it wasn't! The Peach's Castle bit was quite funny too with the game show and Bowser coming just as it finishes. The sneaky parasol is an interesting idea that I'm interested to see how it goes later.
**END SPOILERS** I'm back at Toad Town now but before I head into Chapter 6 I'm just doing a few little things like exploring new parts of the sewers and reading new messages. That Kent. C Koopa is a real pain and there's no way I can finish him off right now. He reminds of Anti Guy in the Toy Box which I never finished off either.
**SPOILERS AGAIN*** I had no clue of where I was meant to go next so I went to Merlon and he told me to find 4 special seeds to open a magical world where the 6th Star Spirit is. It sounds a bit boring actually to find seeds to get to a new chapter so hopefully it isn't that long and hard.
I just want to say that I beat the game! I guess I should've waited to do that, but I just couldn't get into another game before I beat PM. Loved it so much, and I really loved the last boss fight. I've got to give it some thought, but I'm pretty sure this is a 10/10 for me.
Just finished the game off, at super-OCD-level 100% completion! Again.
@she_gamer: Naw, that thread's too much focused on random memories of the game and no concept of a spoiler warning.
@Mario Party Fan 999: Did you get any of the seeds as you went along? I always do, so that there's no need to backtrack.
Seed Location Spoilers! 1: In Toad Town. You'd have to be blind to miss it! 2: On Mount Rugged. Explore a bit, hovering over gaps with Parakarry. Not too hard to find. 3: In Forever Forest. Hiding in the center of one of the screens (inside the group of trees you walk around). 4: In the jungle on Lavalava Island...well, sort of. Actually, the Bulb-orb gave the seed to Kolarado, and you'll need to trade the treasure for it. Not hard to find, especially seeing as the game shows it land in a cut scene. End Spoilers!

@Stuffgamer1 yeah I already had 3 seeds and just needed to find the Forever Forest one. It wasn't that hard either. It was actually harder to find my way out of Forever Forest!
I'm in Chapter 6 now. I was going great until I got a game over accidentally and hadn't saved for like and hour and had to redo everything again :/ After I got to a part with coloured blocks I can ground pound to move them up or down and I couldn't solve the puzzle to get to the other side I went back into Toad Town and the sewers and got to a new part with my new partner and got a new pair of boots that I hope can help me with the coloured blocks.
@Mario Party Fan 999: If you were able to ground pound the blocks to make them move without the upgrade, the upgrade was not strictly necessary. It is, however, good to have for battle purposes. The colored blocks are a puzzle requiring the use of Lakilester to cross the spikes.

I've got my seeds now (I've been collecting them along the way as well) but I should probably do some catching up on side-quests. And I haven't been to the dojo either. I took a huge break playing DKCR, erg, it's like I have to re-learn everything.
You don't actually have to fight Anti-Guy. You can just give him a Lemon Drop, which I believe is made from a Cake Mix and a Lemon. You know, if you wanna be nice. :3
@Stuffgamer1 I can ground pound without the upgrade but yeah, its good to have for battle purposes (and getting to Chapter 7) I ended up going to Merlon who told me what order to ground pound the coloured blocks. (I suck at puzzles so I never would have worked it out) Then the Chapter was over really quick after destroying the Huff Puff Machine and defeating Huff 'n' Puff.
I'm up to Chapter 7 now. I, like another person before me, randomly entered a house and got caught up in a penguin murder mystery! I have solved it now and am about to advance to the next area.
@TwilightV Dang, I wish I had known that a while ago. Had to skip over him/her/it.
Anyway, I have alot of updates and thoughts, so here they are.
POSSIBLE SPOILERS SO NOBODY WHINES LIKE THEY USUALLY DO WHEN I POST MINOR THINGS ON THIS THREAD 1. Just beat Chapter 5 and the Lava Pirahna, was a pretty cool fight and I really liked the lava bubble effects. 2. Am I the only one who thinks Attack FX C sounds just a bit inappropriate? XD 3. On the Peach Quiz I put Mario as the most awesome guy, should've known that since it was Bowser's Castle that was the wrong answer. 4. I really dislike the Peach segments, but the cake-making and quiz parts were really cool. It seems a bit unnecessary to send you back to the beginning and force you through a cutscene for making making a simple mistake. 5. Peach is secretly rebellious, and we all know it.
Oh yeah, and CHET RIPPOOOOOO! shakes fist D: END OF POSSIBLE SPOILERS
“The revolution is not an apple that falls when it is ripe. You have to make it fall.” - "Some men are born mediocre, some men achieve mediocrity, and some men have mediocrity thrust upon them."
@Mario Party Fan 999: Well, nice of Merlon to be so specific, I guess. I found that puzzle absurdly easy, but then I'm just good at that kind of thing.
@Kingbuilder: You actually fell for Chet's scam? Ouchie!
