I just killed two birds with one stone, I gave my persona fire powers AND created a genderbent version of him from an alternate dimension (inspired by an episode of "The Loud House" and "SheZow"). Except she's got ice powers.

@Eel Does it look close to the original design to you? To me it does but I need a second opinion

Keep in mind that in game the chain is not visible, only when the Penitent One is striking.

I hate to say this, but I tend to be very inconsistent with drawing.

@Zuljaras it looks perhaps a little bit thinner. The sprite looks somewhat rounder, curved inwards at the top, with a longer “hat brim”

But it’s still a great match though, making so many pained faces can’t be easy.

It looks inspired by church incense holders, that’s neat.

@Eel Thank you for the input

It does look thinner And there are some inconsistencies, but "great match" is good enough for me

And yes, it is inspired by those incense holders

They were actually traps in the first game as well and there is a HUGE one in one room that is dangling back and forth, and it is actually bigger than the screen. Some really cool stuff in those games!

I am hoping that my copy arrives tomorrow!

@Eel How do they make all those character models stay the same in 2D cartoons?

💚🌸🤍🌸🖤

Eel

@HenryKibble hard-set model sheets and references. Sometimes they just have rigged models ready to animate.

Most shows seem to have a “bible” of rules and references all animators must follow, but there’s also popular shows that don’t really worry too much about staying in model, like Steven Universe.

However free hand drawing and professional animation are different beasts, it takes a team.

@HenryKibble that's part of the skill! I could draw someone decent but I could never animate it consistently...that's why most of my art is 3D

But I grew up on a lot of 80s cartoons, and they didn't always look consistent. People's faces looked different at weird angles and hair/clothing colours would slightly change for no reason.
I guess that's why an easy to recognise hairstyle and outfit are important.

@Kimyonaakuma Not to mention that Super Mario Bros. was fairly new at the time, so people would constantly accidentally give Luigi Mario’s hat in some episodes, etc.

I made this sculpture as a birthday gift for a teammate of mine! She loves kitesurfing so I made a kraken that do that It is a kraken because our team is named the Kraken team

I will do such sculptures for each of my colleagues.

I made an alternate version, who also picks a different Splatfest team in another dimension (yes, Splatoon exists there, don't question it)

@Zuljaras Thats a really nice gift!

Today I received a new Scrawlrbox kit with a new medium. I had never tried drawing with paint markers. It’s somewhat difficult to apply them smoothly, but my test piece came out alright.

These colors pop a lot.

@Zuljaras ooh good idea, I’ll try drawing a pokemon next time.

Edit: ok I haven’t painted it yet, might do it some other day, but I’m just so happy with how the sketch came out that I wanted to share it just in case I ruin it.
