Topic: Nintendo Of America President Says Nintendo Can Never Seem To Satisfy Fans

Part of human nature is not being happy with what we have for long, and wanting something new constantly. We humans are a generally effed up, greedy, insatiable, flighty lot that is usually unhappy and constantly complaining. As Reggie's doing here.

Hey, Regginator: Want to hear less complaining? When you get feedback at NoA about what we want, pass it along to NoJ and try to get something done about it! In other words, help get more games we want to see made! And don't leave franchises like F-Zero out in the cold for ages. And try to avoid these ridiculously long VC droughts. I'm not complaining about much right now, though, with not one but TWO Mario side-scrollers on the way. If A Link to the Past 3DS is made, I'll know for sure you Nintendo guys listen to my Club Nintendo surveys!

Let's attack aggressively, kupo! :D

Like Pokemon Black/White 2, people were upset because they didn't on the 3DS, making it better. Your point is a bit invalid when the past proves against you.

EDIT: Your point is the consumers rightfully accept when their wanted games are put on a better machine to make them better?

In response to the edit, my point is, in some ways, we don't complain that Nintendo take advantage of our 'want's' and our acceptence to buy new tech

And let's not forget we're talking about a specific IP here, not games that always get released, as Mario does, on every system

Let me explain it this way...

Let's take a retired franchise, say Ballon Flight...

Now let's say that everyone on this forum was asking for a new Balloon Flight, and we all owned a DS and. 3DS. If Nintendo knew this, and then said to us...here's your Balloon Flight...on the brand new $500 4DS. Would you see that as acceptable, because Nintendo need to make money?

The way I see it, that's what has happened with Kid Icarus, and I'd argue with Pikmin too.

That's the point I'm trying to make

By your reasoning, Nintendo should just stop making new game systems period. Only ever create games on existing formats because if they made a new console and then supported that new and improved system with new games, they'd be doing all of the owners of the past gen systems a huge disservice. Is that what you're saying?

By the way, there's no way that KIU would be near as good on DS as it is on 3DS. Just saying.

Ok, I get it. For some reason you have a problem with paying money to be able to play better games.
If you think Nintendo is "screwing you over" because they want to make a game that you want good, think that. Don't buy the new thing. If you want your favorite franchise underpowered and not as good as it could be, fine, but people want the games they want to be good, and you have to pay more for the better things in life.

By all means, hold on to your old hardware hoping they make and devleop new titles they "should" make for it. Make for your obsolete system.

With all due respect, you don't seem to get it at all. I'm not saying it's wrong to release better versions games on new hardware. You're mixing up arguments.

You're saying it's wrong that Kid Icarus was developed as a 3DS game, which was because of it's power it was able to be made.

You're complaining that Pikmin should have been released on the Wii, while the creator envisioned something not capable on that system.

You want the experiences of these forgotten franchises without geting a new system? Then you aren't getting those experiences. Because the systems are capable of different things and therefore experiences.

How about falling under the beleif that Nintendo releases these 'retired franchises' (as you say) on a new system so that it can be amazing! Not to deliver it to those who want it the most but not enough to want it the best it can be.

If I'm still not getting what you mean, please try and tell me what about what I'm replying to is misunderstood.

To be honest Pikmin 3 totally looks like it could have been done on the Wii. I surely wouldn't miss the Wii U game pad features.

HD isn't possible on the Wii. Having those BEAUTIFUL graphics for landscapes is worth it IMO.
But anyways, we don't know everything about all the features yet, so you don't know whether what we've seen is the extent of it's potential.

It was in development for the wii for about 5 years right?

WAT!

Hey check out my awesome new youtube channel shingi70 where I update weekly on the latest gaming and comic news form a level headed perspective.

Also, not only these things that can't be done with old hardware, but sheer amounts of content need stronger stuff. One day, we could get some game with a truly stunning gimmick but, because of hardware, an extreme lack of content. Better hardware=stronger games=more innovation and fun. Because I cannot think of anything else take Skylanders, for instance. It could have been a NES sidescroller or something if they thought of it then and made some way to so it but chances are there would have been pretty much nothing to do because the hardware wasn't powerful enough for epic content.

I think the problem is that too many people are expecting too much from Nintendo to make 1st party games for the Wii U. I can understand the frustration that Nintendo would have in trying to please that fan base. But I do agree with others that Nintendoland is not the way to appeal to the core gamer.

My biggest problem is that I'm worried by the time Microsoft and Sony release their new next-gen consoles, the Wii U is going to look dated in comparison. And it's not just the graphics that will suffer, but the game play and the content of those games. I'm glad that Nintendo is taking the first step in announcing the third party games that appeal to the traditional gamer, but the problems is that those same exact games are already playable on the Xbox 360 and PS3, so those companies and the console owners are not going to be green with envy. If Nintendo's hardware is to be just as powerful as the next Xbox or PS, then it would be something to cheer for. So far, I have not seen anything to show for that.

So yes, Reggie, we're insatiable because you can't seem to understand that we're looking to the other consoles for a better (IMO) gaming experience. You're unique, but nobody is saying "Yeah, Nintendo, you're the s---!"

People are forgetting Nintendo has a lot of games rolling out later this year. Cramming everything in one spot isn't the smartest thing to do. People will complain: "Too many games to choose from!"

You know, it reminds me of that episode of Courage the Cowardly dog where Muriel was turned into a baby.

The part where she says she "Hates mac and cheese" reminds me of people saying they hate Mario now. When he's only getting 2 "core Mario Bros." games and the last one was in 2009.

People complain, if they were TRUE fans they'd accept when they make a weird move and not bash it, if they dont like it at least like that they made the move, if they make too much of the same don't bash it for being old... You liked it once that's why there making it again.

This is what it looks like to me too.

Reggie should be grateful that 60 million Wii owners aren't complaining that new Nintendo games aren't being released on the Wii, and they have to buy a new console.

Reggie shouldn't have made those comments. It shows complete lack of respect to the customers. The people who afford him, and Nintendo, a sizeable income.
