okay everybody, I'm doing an oral report for school, and I decided to pick one of my favorite subjects: Nintendo! I was just wondering, does anybody know any cool Nintendo tidbits? If it's good, I may even post the finished report up here. here, I'll start: did you know, nintendo dabbled in lots of other things before games, including instant rice, cab services, and even love hotels? (hotels for couples to go to and... you know.)
And what? Could you elaborate, please? Keep in mind I'm a visual learner, too. Diagrams and pictures are especially helpful. Thanks, looking forward to your report.
For you, the day LordJumpMad graced your threads, was the most important day of your life. But for me, it was Tuesday. [url=http://www.backloggery.com/jumpmad]Unive...
ummm are you guys sure about the love hotels and cab company bits? source? other than wikipedia...
Pretty sure the first I heard of the love hotels thing was from the book Game Over, which covers Nintendo's history up until the SNES era, also learned of them being involved in card making from the book too.
Nintendo's mascot (Mario) is named after their former landlord (Mario Segali). His previous name was Jumpman, as you may know from the arcade classic Donkey Kong.
During development of Donkey Kong, Mario was called Mr. Video. This was before Jumpman. Mario's appearance was shaped by the graphical limits of the time. Mario is a plumber because his creators wanted him to be seen as a hard-working person. He was originally a carpenter.
I think Nintendo may have created Super Mario Bros.
It's all conjecture, but it has the ring of truth to it, does it not?
Lieutenant Commander of the Lesbian Love Brigade
There can only be one, like in that foreign movie where there could only be one, and in the end there is only one dude left, because that was the point.
yep with games like Mario and Zelda, there console 3DO is still selling today, pity they sold Halo to Microsoft, without it Nintendo really has no other big franchises worth bothering about.
Nintendo was a trading card company before making consoles
That is not corrent. Nintendo was (and still is) originally a company that produced hanafuda cards. They're no more "trading cards" than a regular deck of playing cards.
I reckon Nintendo should go back to owning Love Hotels, too. Many love hotels feature theme rooms, and I reckon having a giant Pikachu standing in the room would elevate the experience of a "short rest" (that's what it's called when you hire a room in a Love Hotel) to something special.
i think if his teacher doesn't like Wikipedia, they'll like an internet forum even less, lol
