Sorry I know this is Xbox related question but I can't decide whether to buy Halo 4 at launch. Mass Effect 3 came out at $60 in early March and it's down to $20 in late August less than 6 months later. I don't want to buy it now if it goes down by half or more in less than a year. But I read somewhere that Halo games don't go down in price very fast historically. The best deal I can find is a $25 credit for next purchase for buying the game on MS store site. The game got a near perfect rating but I can wait a bit but not years to get it at a low price. Any advice would be appreciated.

i remember getting halo 2 and finished the campaign in like 8 hours or so. first i was disappointed by its ending and that i finished it so quickly but damn it was worth the 60€. amazing game and played like 500 times again.
if i would have 360 i would definetly get halo 4 immediatly
I wouldn't expect an actual price drop on Halo 4 for at LEAST a year however you may be able to nab it at a discount during one of the many upcoming holiday sales.
If you're an online gamer, I just recommend getting the game at launch and enjoying it with your friends. That's what I'm gonna do.
It's like, I just love a cowboy
You know
I'm just like, I just, I know, it's bad
But I'm just like
Can I just like, hang off the back of your horse
And can you go a little faster?!

Dude, Halo 3 came out 5 years ago and still goes for $20 at most places when other games go for as low as $5. May as well get it now so you don't get creamed in multi later on.
You should realize that Mass Effect 3 is a very special case; not only did everybody in the world hate the ending, but the game also got slammed for having expensive, quote-on-quote "Downloadable Content", a majority of which was already on the disc of the game. I have a good feeling that the fallout from those two instances of outrage definitely brought down the game's average price by a fair amount.
As for opinions? I can't say much as the only part of Halo I've played is the public demo of the first game that was released early in this century. However, from what I've heard, Halo 4 feels more linear and doesn't recapture the magic that Bungie injected into the series. Also, assuming that Microsoft doesn't make 343 Studios crank out the next game in time for the holiday season of 2013, there will probably be a healthy community continuing to thrive a year from now.

And by healthy community, I'm sure he means a large amount of top-tier regulars ready to kick you rear before you can even blink. Like what happens a year after every other Halo game comes out.
